The first thing to note is that these two teams each beat their one common opponent—NC A&T—by the exact same margin (16). In other words, it's a pretty even matchup. Coastal is probably the more talented team, but the style matchups seem to favor the Wildcats because they should be capable of containing Aramis Hillary & co. (they lead the nation in efficiency D, though that tends to be inflated in the passing-challenged MEAC) while I don't think CCU's weak D-Line will do too well against BCU's running game. Also: the Chants have better special teams, but the Wildcats are at home.

The MEAC hasn't won a playoff game since 1999, and this appears to be their best shot in that time frame. Let's see if it happens.

Here's my assessment of the matchups & my pick for the game:

      • Quarterbacks -- Coastal Carolina

        Running Backs - (push)

        Receivers/TEs - Coastal Carolina

        Offensive Line - Coastal Carolina

        Defensive Line - Bethune-Cookman

        Linebackers --- Coastal Carolina

        Secondary ---- Bethune-Cookman

        Kicking ------ Coastal Carolina

        Punting ------ Bethune-Cookman

        Return Teams - Coastal Carolina

        Kickoffs ------ Coastal Carolina

        • Coastal Carolina 23-28 Bethune-Cookman

Although I want Bethune to make history there is too much in the favor of CCU for them to lose this Saturday. In order for Bethune to pull this off their suspect passing attack must make its presence felt using more play action passing especially on first down.If Florida A&M was able to slow them down then CCU try to as well.

I don't follow. You say that CCU is better than BCU in 7 of the 11 areas, but you have them losing? :?:

I believe the MEAC had two playoff wins courtesy of Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T over Appalachian St and Tennessee St.

Matbe they are much better in 4 areas, and slightly worse in 7?

Florida A&M won the title in 1978 (the first year that there was a I-AA), so the MEAC has won games in the playoffs, just not in a long time.

Maybe not all 11 areas are weighted equally?

Thought that they were as stated before Bethune must take advantage of their play action passing on 1st down if they are to advance.

I'm looking at this thinking... ok, he's picking CCU to win and then see you pick BC. Crazy.

CCU wins 31-24

Yes unfortunately though I'am rooting for Bethune that might turn out to be the final score but I hope the Wildcats prove me wrong.

MEAC in the playoffs? I expect CCU to win this by 20+

Two reasons I picked BCook:

1) It's in Daytona Beach
2) Cookman's a heavy running team, & Coastal doesn't stop the run well at all.

This is the pick I feel least confident about, though.

Yes I know Florida A&M won the title back in '78 but I was referring to playoff wins in 99-01.The biggest shock was the win by North Carolina A&T over Tenn.State using a stifling defense that shut down the pass happy attack of the Tigers.

Eddie Poole 6-4 200 is the main deep threat for B-CU he needs to get off to a good start today.

Is the audio out for this game so far? I just switched from Gate/Wags and got no audio. I am going to close and reopen.

That solved the problem.
