Honestly, how does a team end up having more Pac-12 wins than playoff appearances? Crazy.

Sadly those Pac 12 wins garner more notability than the playoffs.

If you want to call beating the garbage teams in the Pac-12 making a mockery of it yeah you guys are really doing work.

Can I hear the story about how beating Kansas and Minnesota is better than a Mountain West or lower tier Pac 12 teams before bed?
When NDSU beats Wisconsin, Oregon or Alabama, let us know. Until then, your victories over FCS schools are no different than anyone else's.

Yeah, if only they could take down juggernauts like Minnesota or Central Michigan.

Montana hasn't beaten a Pac-10/12 team in 16 years, yet I'm pretty sure that program has a
biiitt more notoriety than Sac State's.

Brief side topic. Root sports used to be Fox Sports Northwest in our area. It carried Mariner games, pac-10 football and hoops, a few GU games etc. It was part of both the residential and business basic cable package. After the switch to Root (and of course the BSC deal), it became a pay channel for businesses with a price tag of $59/month. That's well over half the price of the entire basic cable package. I'm guessing more than a few bars will not carry Root now.

BTW....Central Michigan won the MAC title that year and their bowl game.
NDSU has their chance next year in FB with Kansas State (#1 in BCS standings now). But I suppose if the Bison beat them it will be 'tainted' because K-State had to replace 9 defensive starters and their QB.....

When did I ever say NDSU was out there taking down juggernauts? (Although the Bison have beaten Wisconsin and Marquette in basketball in the past few years) You guys like to put words in people's mouths. I don't come on here and brag about beating garbage teams. Although I do love seeing the FCS schools take down teams from the BCS conferences so more power to you on that.

FBS wins are FBS wins. Same goes for basketball. Sac's success is something to hang their hat on. So is NDSU's. JFC, not everything has to be a competition against you folks.

In Montana sure, in CA the FCS playoffs are an afterthought at best. Our FBS wins probably got a lot more pub/highlights in the main stream media (ESPN) than any FCS playoff highlights. I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying how it is.

Root is included in any of the DirecTV or Dish sport packages. I had no problem finding the Sac vs MSU game at a local sports bar a few weeks ago.

Considering our poor hoops history and laughable facilities, wins over bad Pac-12 hoops programs is notable.

I still get Root (aka the Montana Sports Network.

). Included in my basic cable plan. Its not a pay channel (I don't think, anyway). I also get the Pac-12 network (the Northwest feed, can't get the national feed).
I don't have DirectTV or Dish. I guess maybe that is it.

To be fair, maybe that'd change a little if Sac could make it to the playoffs a few times. Not saying there'd be a huuuge difference, but kinda hard to gauge interest in something that the local populace has had limited exposure to. Maybe a local team having success in the playoffs would change things a little.

Montana's athletic program gets more national pub than Sac's. Trust me on this.
UM ranks 57th. on the CLC merchandise rankings, which is above a lot of FBS schools. Not surprisingly, Sac State isn't on the list.

That sorta depends on which sport you're talking about. In terms of football and boys hoops (perhaps girls as well), sure. But if you're talking crew, gymnastics, or weightlifting (a club sport at which Sac has excelled for years), you would be in error.

If you're defining crew, gymnastics, or weightlifting success as "national pub" for an athletic program, then I'll define a guy yelling down the street at 2:00 AM "national pub."

NONE OF THOSE SPORTS MEAN JACK SHIT OUTSIDE OF THE FANS OF THE SCHOOL.
Before I started following FCS football I didn't even know there was a fucking Sacramento State....
My favorite game to play at work, since I work with a bunch of self proclaimed "football experts", is "name the mascot and conference"......Not a single person has ever gotten Sac State - and most ask if I made the school up.
