Their football facilities on campus have benefited from past association with the New England Patriots (pre-season camp was held there for a number of years)...

Don,
The Conference currently considers Bryant a member albeit a reclassifying one. The institution has voting rights at our administrative meets, but will not be eligible for a NEC championship until the 2012-13 academic year, when the Bulldogs complete the mandatory four-year reclassification process. They will be included in our regular season standings beginning next year, but will have no postseason privileges until the four-year period is completed. Thanks for your interest in the Northeast Conference.

read this on HP, I think that it is good that they are already a conference member with conference schedules and will not be an "independent for four years". I like that they also already have voting rights in the conference.
