Big Sky Predictions 11-17

This is rivalry week and so many teams get the chance to play spoiler against the teams they really do not like. One chance at glory to go out a winner and put a dent in the other teams psyche. Many schools live by the motto that it is always a good season regardless of the record if you beat your rival. Currently I am at 61-21 and need to be perfect this week, the hardest week to be perfect as one pretty much has to throw out the records. Here are my predictions this week.

CP at NAU---A game that became bigger after the Lumberjacks lost at home last week to Southern Utah. The Mustangs have a shot at the conference championship but they have to win in Flagstaff. Should be interesting...CP 38, NAU 35.

EWU at PSU---Interesting game here as the Vikings have enjoyed some success against the Eagles even recently when the Eagles had great teams and the Vikings had some not so great teams. That makes for a great rivalry, doesn't it. This does, too...PSU 36, EWU 30.

MSU at UM---Even in a down year, the playoffs still seem to go through Missoula in some way and this year the Grizzlies get to play spoiler at home to the Bobcats. Last year's game found the visitors jumping out early. This year those visitors are at home, and never count them out...UM 35, MSU 33.

UND at UNC---Do you want to know a secret? The Bears are currently on a two game conference winning streak heading into their last game of the year. The Dakotans have had a great year in the Big Sky but will they remain focused in their last game?...UNC 28, UND 24.

Sac State at UCD---The Aggies are fresh off of throwing everything at Eastern Washington and would love the chance to knock the Hornets down a peg. The Hornets, if you can believe this, think they should get in the playoffs with a win. OK, so be it...Sac St 19, UCD 14.

WSU at ISU---No doubt the Bengals are just playing to get through the rest of the season so this game with their rivals, the Wildcats, may just be another game. The Wildcats have been competitive all year, they just can't seem to get their second win. But then, they hadn't played the Bengals yet...WSU 45, ISU 20.

CP gets the AQ. MSU, EWU and NAU go to the playoffs. Sac State is left holding the bag, wondering how they got snubbed over Eastern Kentucky (or some other questionable selection).

EWU 35-30 Portland St. - The Viks always give EWU big problems, but their defense just isn't good enough

Sac State 28-31 UC DavisThe Aggies are 15-4 versus Sac under Bob Biggs

Weber 45-34 Idaho St. — The Bengal O at least comes to play at home, but they still can't stop anybody

Cal Poly 21-24 NAUBoth teams will need to make plays in the passing game to win, and NAU is better there

Montana St. 28-24 Montana — The Griz leave too many points on the field one final time

North Dakota 35-42 NoCoIt's outdoors & the UNDers still haven't proven they can play defense

This might have been the toughest week to pick all year.

I'd be shocked if this game has that many points.

Hey now, SH is the only one actually believing we should be in with a win this week. I think we might get consideration but won't get a nod. I guess what I am trying to say is how do people actually take what SH says as a legitimate thought/post? :suspicious:

CP at NAU - 28-20. Interesting game. Both teams are probably going in thinking this is week 1 of the playoffs. I think CP's running game can wear down NAU. Plus they are coming into this off of an ISU bye.

EWU at PSU - 35-17. I actually don't think this one will be close...however after last weeks game where EWU was a no show for almost 2 quarters who really knows.

MSU at UM - 27-24. I think UM will live up to the moment and spoil the Bobcats hopes for a share of the BSC crown.

UND at UNC - 30-38. UNC has all the mo and are playing at levels never thought imaginable. I think they finish the season strong.

Sac State at the farm extension - 31-20. Should be another close and hard fought game. If we take care of the football we should win. I would love for the Hornets to send Biggs off with a loss here. No telling how the Hornets will come out of the bye though.

WSU at ISU - 38-14. WSU takes a little something positive into the offseason and ISU continues to chase their tail.

Or are you speaking from experience? Washington did just legalize recreational marijuana use. ;)

No, that just makes his posts more entertaining, not legitimate.

Saturday Nov 17th

Eastern Washington @ Portland State (Eastern sqeaks out a road rivalry game)

Montana State @ Montana (The Griz are always tough to beat, especially in thier house, but the Cats get it done this year)

Weber State @ Idaho State (The Bengals never beat Weber) ( Yes I know I picked the Bengals on Bigskyfans, but I had a change of heart)

Cal Poly @ Northern Arizona (The Jacks finish off a great regular season with a win)

North Dakota @ Northern Colorado (Have the Bears turned the corner? I would say yes, but the teams they beat are a combined 5-25, would love for the Bears to prove me wrong)

Sacramento State @ UC Davis (Advantage goes to the home team in this rivalry game)

Where did you get THAT idea, Ryan? There's no correlation. Sac has won at home AND on the road, and so has Davis. The better team generally wins, and home field is no more than a SLIGHT advantage. That's why it's a "rivalry."

I agree that in a rivalry game home field advantage means a load of crock, just look at 2011 Weber vs SUU and 2012 Weber vs SUU, the road teams both won.

I think Sac might be the better team, but I think this one time home field takes the cake, but by no more than 2 to 3 points

Might be the better team, 6-4 vs 3-7?

Records can always be decieving UC Davis beat Weber by a lot more than Sacramento State did.

In the case of this rivalry, I don't think it matters that Sac is the better team.

Four wins in the last 20 years!? Ouch.

No idea on Cat Griz. I think we're quite capable of losing to 11 junior high players that throw hail marys every play. But the Cats have bewildered me with their ability to get absolutely steamrolled...

I guess I don't have to say anything about the UC Davis/Sac State rivalry - you guys already have. Actually, the game is a toss-up. The weather and the rivalry throw in too many questionmarks. We have won some great games against Sac State during poor weather though! The latest was two years ago and then there's the Mud Bowl at Hughes Stadium.
