Internet rumors are notorious for false information, but with all the other issues going on in O'burg right now. It isn't much of a stretch.

http://onnidan1.com/forum/index.php/topic,69603.0.html

With State support of HBCUs drying up across the South, MEAC and SWAC schools are going to have to take a long look in the mirror and figure out how they're going to proceed from here.

You have to wonder if the slight travel advantages and drop of scholarships is worth giving up on the guarantee games in hoops.

Winston Salem is kicking butt in the CIAA after dropping down from DI. They only spend $1.2m on football and $4.5m on athletics. Compare that to SCSU's $2.9m on football and $9.8m overall. No way they get that much in guarantees for football or basketball.

Winston Salem made the D2 semi-finals in football but lost to Pittsburgh St.

SC State is currently losing over $10 million every year (it may be closer to $20 million).

State funding hasn't been cut, but SCSU is not attracting good students, and a large percentage of their students are not performing well enough and lose their lottery scholarships after one year and drop out.

There are also some apparent accounting irregularities.

In fact, it is not clear who their board chairman is (they had a flawed election followed by another flawed election and two people claim to be chairman).

And, the CIAA tournament is nothing to turn a nose up to. It's been in Charlotte for the past few years and is a huge success. The city rolls out the red carpet for the tournament. It's a huge party downtown...I'd be willing to bet that SCSU would be quit successful in the CIAA.

The CIAA tourney is what the MEAC tourney wishes it could be.

The paper did a story about him last year, IIRC. He basically gets all of these suits, throws them in his car, and hits the road from VA to the tourney. He changes multiple times throughout the day. Guy is straight pimpin.

Amen to this guy styling and profiling.
