The No. 5 Eagles are in position, but now they need to continue to rise back to the top.
The first of two giant steps to extend a promising 2012 season takes place this Saturday (Nov. 10) when the Eastern Washington University football teams hosts UC Davis on "Senior Day” at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash. Kickoff at “The Inferno” is 1:35 p.m. Pacific time as the Eagles bid farewell to 16 EWU seniors.
Besides trying to send the seniors out with a victory, Eastern is hoping to finish the regular season 5-0 at home. Since the red Sprinturf surface was installed in 2010, Eastern is 14-2 at “The Inferno.” Last week’s game was sold out, with an announced attendance of 8,644 – the seventh-largest non-Montana crowd in Roos Field history.
With an average of 9,133 fans attending four home games thus far, the Eagles are on pace to set the school’s single season record for average attendance set last season of 8,898 per game. Eastern would need to have 7,957 fans attend the UC Davis game to equal the mark, although possible home playoff games would factor into that as well.
“I love being here and I love the fans,” said Baldwin. “I know we had another sellout, and even when the weather wasn’t great you still felt them here -- that’s big. There is nothing like being at home. We can’t wait to be here against UC Davis.”
The Aggies, who are 3-6 overall and 2-4 in their first year as a member of the Big Sky Conference (football only), are coming off a bye week. They are a hard-luck team with an excruciating schedule, and suffered narrow losses by eight points or less to three nationally-ranked teams -- Cal Poly (28-20), Montana State (48-41) and South Dakota State (12-8). They also lost just 21-7 on the road to nationally-ranked Big Sky leader Northern Arizona.
Baldwin is pleased with the way his team – and in particular his veteran leaders – responded to the challenge following its frustrating 30-27 loss at Southern Utah, which cost the Eagles their No. 1 ranking in FCS.
“They answered it,” he said. “The season is long and the Big Sky is tough. When you have a game like we had when a few things didn’t go right and Southern Utah did a great job against us, the best thing you can do is learn from it and then move on. Even if we had won that game, you get to Monday and you move forward. That’s what you have to do. You can’t ever hold on to a win, and you can’t let a loss beat you twice. I’m saying something that every coach says and there is a truth to it. There is a reason everyone says that. It’s one thing to say it and it is another thing to have a bunch of leaders in the locker room who truly come back and act that way.”

Updated.
Where are all the UC Davis fans at? I know there's a bunch registered here to play the elimination game.

Either at the local Star Trek Convention or maybe it's date night at the sheep barns!
Looking forward to the game, go Eagles smoke U.C. Dungpile!

• Aggie opponents have been heating up in the red-zone over the past four games, going a perfect 12-for-12 during that time while scoring 100 points (13 TD's, 3 FG's).
• Montana State and Idaho State were each 6 for 6, Northern Arizona was 1 for 1 and Portland State finished 3 for 3.
• Their performances have led the Aggies to fall to 105th in FCS red-zone defense with a season percentage of 87.5 percent (23 TD's 5 FG's; 28 of 32 overall for 175 pts).
• Conversely, UC Davis is 28 of 32 (.824) and has very similar numbers overall: 171 pts, 22 TD's. 6 FG's)... The Aggies are T-52nd in red-zone offense.

We have had a tough season...the close losses began to pile up and frustrate the fan base, but the last game (a blowout lose to Portland freakin St., AT HOME) was the nail in the coffin of a forgettable season. Really at this point, we just don't want to get embarrassed by EWU and then somehow beat Suck Town next week to eliminate them from the playoffs. That would make the whole season worth it.

Aggies....my condolences, not because EWU will give you the whopping of the year...and not because you have fallen flat for the season....my condolences because those that watch the SWX video feed will have to tolerate listening to two of the most classless asshats that I have ever heard call a football game.
My sincere condolences

Thanks for the heads up - I can play our local radio coverage and just watch the screen from their end. And...Aggie posters are on EWU's message board, having a nice, civilized discussion.

Just for clarification, the announcers for the SWX feed aren't affiliated with EWU. If you want to listen two of the best, listen to the radio stream I've posted in this thread.

Condolences to both teams for having to put up with Big Sky refs. UC Davis fans are mostly talking about basketball or the 2013 football schedule or the choice of a new coach - anything other than this season except maybe beating Suck State.

Glad to be at home listening instead of 25 deg in Cheney. Sudden cold spell in Coastal California but still 57 deg right now. Aggies start with ball.

A dive on 3rd and 18? Is Biggs really that scared to let Wright throw the ball?

Just like the Big Sky commentator said "Bob Biggs gave up on that drive." Wright has been very inconsistent and thrown lots of easy INT's. Our backup QB is better but Biggs will not switch.

Fumble EWU, gifts the farm extension with good field position.
EWU gifts the farm extension with a 1st down via a personal foul on 3rd and long.
Nice bootleg roll out play to the TE. Penalty negates a nice pick up though. Farm extension capitalizes on the fumble and gets a FG.

7-3 EWU but Aggies probably lucky to be that close. This QB is nothing like the Aggies have had in the past.
Of course, it doesn't help that the receivers can't catch.

Jesus, Bronson just killed a farm extension DB.
EWU with a quick TD. 14-3 EWU lead.

After PSU got ahead by about 2 TD's, the Aggies just gave up. Let's see how they respond this time.

Wright is looking okay, his receivers dropping balls aren't helping though.

You're right but actually the only player we have is the kicker/punter.

TD farm extension. EWU is not getting any pressure up front and Wright is finding a rhythm. This time a blown coverage give an easy TD. Get a 2 point conversion too. 14-11 EWU early 2nd qtr.

TD UC Davis - how did that happen? They weren't doing anything.

Nice roll out by Wright coupled with blown coverage by EWU. EWU DB's let the farm extension receiver get behind them.
