#1 Rhode Island @ #2 Delaware

Hahah! What a small, insignificant state!!
1. Rhode Island - 1,212 miles2 (3,139 km2)
2. Delaware - 1,983 miles2 (5,136 km2)
3. Connecticut - 4,872 miles2 (12,997 km2)
4. Hawaii - 6,471 miles2 (16,760 km2)
5. New Jersey - 7,787 miles2 (20,168 km2)
Seriously. Rhode Island is
less than 1,500 square miles in area!

I believe Jersey has led in population density for decades. All five are probably high on the population density list.

Santa Cruz (Arizona's smallest) - 1,237 sq miles
Maricopa (Phoenix area) - 9,203 sq miles
Coconino (Flagstaff/NAU) - 18,617

It's all in one county. New Castle County population density is 1,260/sq mi.
Slower DE is livable.
