An associate athletic director at The Citadel was arrested in early September for soliciting a prostitute in North Charleston, according to a police report.

The report states Senior Associate Athletic Director Robert Paul Plunkett, 61, was arrested on Sept. 5 after he offered to pay an undercover cop posing as a prostitute for oral sex.

Female. His greatest crime was agreeing to pay $30 for a BJ from a North Charleston streetwalker. They aren't worth a penny over $20.

Ought to be legal. And for damn sure cops shouldn't be entrapping people like that. Given their necessary role they shouldn't be wasting time and resources plus causing the system to waste time and resources doing stuff like posing as prostitutes in order to catch some guy doing something that ought to be legal in the first place.

on the one hand, I think prostitution should be legal in theory.
but on the other hand, legalizing it probably encourages more people who are in desperate financial situations to turn to the sex trade for money despite not really wanting to, and that ain't right. And worse, it would probably make it easier for scumbag guys to pimp out and/or force women into it. And that is terrible.

Please. If they were hooking at the end if your driveway, attracting all the riffraff that they do you'd be the first one on the phone to the cops bitching and demanding that somebody come out and enforce the law.
