Towson @ JMU Thread-1 PM NBC Sports

Well, finally get to find out what JMU is made of. After being the a** kicker with 2 cupcakes and @ URI, and being the a** kickee with WVU, + a bye week, JMU finally gets to play a relative equal. I said back in Feb when the schedule came out wouldn't really find out how good JMU was till Oct 6.
The schedule with this game being:
-@ JMU
-JMU with a bye week this past week
-and TU @ LSU this past week
really benefits JMU.
Parents' weekend, game has been sold out for over 2 weeks now. Should be an overflow of about 26k there.

Seems to me that we won back in the Tony Vinson day? yes? Circa 1995

His(and mine) junior year. We ran all over JMU that day. Tony fumbles twice on the goal line and we downed the ball inside their 10 yard line to kill the clock. So the 28-21 score really doesn't tell the whole story.

Would it be wrong to root for injuries?

Yes. JMU, as usual, already has their fair share.
2 Offensive starters out:
-Starting WR-rSo, torn ACL versus WVU, out for season. Doesn’t hurt too much there since JMU has played 7 receivers with the 2 deep this season, although at 6’4” he was the tallest one.
-Starting LT: 6’5”/300 rSo transfer from Syracuse, broken ankle versus URI, out for season.
Starting in his place is an 6’3”/290 rSo who started last 5 games of last season at LT. Also have available last yr’s starting LT 1st for 1st 8 games, a 6’5”/295 rSo, Marshall transfer AJ Scott, Da’Quan Scott’s cousin, who is now a backup at OG, but he has been hampered by last yr's ankle injury that hasn't healed right, and he'll have surgery on it after the season.
Dae'Quan Scott is playing, but isn't listed on the 2 deep, and probably isn't 100%.
1 Defensive starter & 1 two-deep out, both MD transfers:
-Starting SS/OLB Titus Till, ankle injury versus WVU 3 weeks ago, out. Started at MD last yr & might be JMU’s 2nd best defensive through the 1st 2.5 games. Good news is Jamie Veney, a 5th yr Sr & a starter 08’-09’ who missed almost all of the last 2 seasons, came in for Till versus WVU and started for him against MD.
-2 deep corner out, the other MD transfer. He was also injured versus WVU.
And I'm sure TU has some inured players, too, esp after LSU.

From ODU to Penn State to 5th string at JMU to now starting on national tv.
Brodie has looked good against SFU, Alcorn State, and WVU backups. At URI with Scott out, JMU's #2 back, 2011 850 yd rusher Jordan Anderson battling turf toe suffered versus WVU and not looking good, Brodie stepped in and ran very well and according to the 2 deep notes, has earned the starting spot, and he's not even on scholly.

Absolutely not, even though we don't play JMU this year - MM ducked us again.

Kind of surprised at that. I watched all but the last 5 1/2 min of the TU @ LSU game (recorded 3.5 hrs and there was still 5 1/2 min left when it stop recording, so I didn't see the last TU TD).
I don't know who if anyone has been injured for TU the 1st 3 games and is still out, but I know the top 4 guys that I'm aware of Best & Enders on offense and Beltre and Dangerfield on defense are playing.
TU has to overcome their 2nd straight game on the road and JMU having an off week. JMU has to overcome probably being more beat up/having more guys out than TU.

One thing that could play a key role in this game, and might enable JMU to win, is TU's special teams in 2 of their 3 games I have seen, @ Kent State and @ LSU, have been abominable.
Just going off the top of my head:
- @ Kent State: gave up a kick return for a TD, another for 59 yds, fumbled a kick return.
-@ LSU: muffed a punt, missed a PAT, had some horrible punts and kickoffs, gave up a long return.
JMU has had pretty good special teams so far. Have a good kicker and the punter has been outstanding, esp versus WVU.

Just turned it on. Quite the hit on the receiver there.
Guess he's OK.

Must be out drinking like Montana at the half, for it sure doesn't look sold out.

#22 Marquis Woodyard, starting WR. I've met his mom the last 2 away games. Real nice lady. Seems ok, but don't know if he'll get to return with concussion precautions now a days. If not, we'll be down our 3rd offensive starter, and 2nd WR, in the last 3 games.

Somewhat of a defensive struggle so far. 2x in the red zone, stopped on 4th and 1 and a FG. That could come back to haunt JMU.

Did the Towson-JMU game end yet? It was so boring that my TV turned itself off midway through the 2nd quarter?

Actually, your TV was stolen by one of Norfolk's finest citizens.

Yeah, because watching 2 great offenses and horrendous defenses in a basketball score game is any better.
