MT in the top 25...you are nuts

If anyone votes for them to be in the Top 25 they should have their voting pass revoked and then taken out back and shot after today's debacle.

UNI doesn't play next week....finally.SuperHornet wrote:FWIW, I left Montana out on accident. On reflection, though, it seems unfortunately appropriate. I also almost dumped UNI. I hope I don't have to pull the trigger on them next week....

That's a pretty huge minus.EWURanger wrote:Montana is a top 25 team, no doubt about it. Seriously. does anyone think some of the other teams in the top 25 could beat them?

Defense is pretty legit, minus the secondary.
I actually left them out last week. I was not very high on them to being with.grizzaholic wrote:If anyone votes for them to be in the Top 25 they should have their voting pass revoked and then taken out back and shot after today's debacle.
Jesus. That's a VERY negative opinion of what happened today. Two fumbles inside the 10 yard line are going to put a damper on scoring....but do you really think that's going to happen every game? Is every team in the BSC as good as EWU?uofmman1122 wrote:That's a pretty huge minus.EWURanger wrote:Montana is a top 25 team, no doubt about it. Also, we can't score.
We have a great offense for getting a shit ton of yards, but we're terrible at actually scoring. I think we're in the top 10 of FCS in yards per game, and top 5 in rushing per game, but I'd bet we aren't even in the top half of scoring per game.
And yes. I think every team in the top 25 could beat us. We can't finish games, even when we have a two score lead with 4 minutes left.
You're a bettin man right?AZGrizFan wrote:Jesus. That's a VERY negative opinion of what happened today. We lost our best offensive weapon in the 1st quarter and still had a 9 point lead with 3 minutes to go. Last week we played 21 minutes of great football. Today they played 57 minutes of great football. A bounce or two here or there and that game isn't close....I'd hardly say that's the definition of a team that would get beat by every other team in the top 25.
I predict an 8-3 season. That was our last loss. Mark it down.
As much as I want to agree with you, I just can't. For as many yards as we've put up, we have yet to crack even 40 points. It wasn't just this game.AZGrizFan wrote:Jesus. The Griz are easily in the top half in scoring. Less than a third of FCS teams are averaging 30+ ppg.uofmman1122 wrote:We have a great offense for getting a shit ton of yards, but we're terrible at actually scoring. The Griz also had just 296 yards against Liberty and scored 34 points.uofmman1122 wrote:As much as I want to agree with you, I just can't. For as many yards as we've put up, we have yet to crack even 40 points. It wasn't just this game.
We had 533 yards today and only scored 26 points.
We had 483 yards against ASU and only scored 27 points.
We had 568 yards against USD and only scored 35 points.
Fortunately, the next five games are against weaker teams than the two they just played. If the Griz win all of those, they'll head into the Bobcat game with at worst a 50/50 shot at the playoffs (8-3 will get in, 7-4 is probably a coin flip). That's the thing. This team CAN get it done, but after five weeks, especially after today's game that we god damn should have won, I don't have the confidence in this staff that you have.
As for the defense, It makes no sense to make adjustments in the second half if you completely abandon your adjustments later.
Why the hell do you blitz all 3rd quarter, hold them to negative yardage and force a fumble and INT, and then when crunch time comes up, say "Holy shit! He might throw the ball!" and drop back 8 guys?
That's the saddest thing. We gave up the pressure to cover better, and he burned us with long pass plays worse than when we were blitzing...
I want us to go 8-3. I think we can.
But I honestly don't think we will.
As for the Top25 comment, I didn't say we would lose to every team in the top 25, but we definitely could. So far this team and staff haven't really proven otherwise. We're 0-3 vs. top 25 teams so far.
We'll get five in in this scenario:BlackFalkin wrote:If u guys win 5 of the next 6, youve gotta be in. Win 4 of the next 6, then it might be a coin flip. HOWEVER, the Big Sky is LEGIT so that will def play in your favor. Montana's schedule is tough and NAU is the only "bad" loss. (bc u had the lead @home) It wont be easy to win out but its def possible for UM to win 5 of the next 6 bc you get Montana State at home. IMHO UM still deserves to be in the top 25. I dont see how 5 Big Sky teams dont get in this year.
FWIW, in 2010 we didn't crack 40 points till the 9th game of the season and only did it once more after that. But I do get your point.uofmman1122 wrote:As much as I want to agree with you, I just can't. For as many yards as we've put up, we have yet to crack even 40 points. You obviously were not at the game. They are a VERY good team. I agree they are definitely a top 25 team and like the logic that all teams in the top 25 could not beat them. I find it interesting how quickly many so called Griz fans throw their team under the bus. I think the Griz just played the 2 best teams in the Big Sky and will get much better as the season progress's. I certainly hope my Eagles do not have to face them again.grizzaholic wrote:EWURanger wrote:Montana is a top 25 team, no doubt about it. I may have missed the other posts, but I had a good experience last year, minus the random dude who wanted to fight us. I was quite pleased. The parking was terrible though and getting back to the highway was a pain, but a good experience nonetheless.Grizalltheway wrote:Great post, claw.clawman wrote: You obviously were not at the game. Also want to give a shout out to all the Eagles fans in Cheney. I was smack dab in the middle of the home side, and I had a great time going back and forth (no homo) with the fans around me. Very much the opposite of how a few MSU fans portrayed the experience there.
