Ask our AD that question. I just hope it doesn't bite us in the ass come playoff time.

If it weren't a 12 game season, I'd be pissed off.
But as was mentioned before, we did it in 2012...so, there ya go.

UNI was forced to do it it because Savannah St is a faggy little douchebag, and didn't even bother to call UNI to tell them that FSU bought our our game.

I just ran the stadium steps there the other day; I'll be sure to tell them.

that's the worst part...we found our on accident by an athletic department employee reading blogs about the biggest mismatches with ssu and fsu listed the same day we were supposed to play them....
Called ssu and their reply was to the effect of "oh yeah we did that a while back, we were going to tell you eventually"

No excuse for that lack of professionalism. Makes all HBCUs look bad. Their AD is a complete clown.

So nobody can explain the logic behind scheduling a div2 game? I knew it.

Fill seats with a cheap opponent so the volleyball team can get new uniforms from time to time.

You have to pay for that d2 game, and if thats the case... take a fbs money game.

We took two this year, could have taken the FSU game before Savannah state took it. However that would have meant Wisconsin, FSU & Iowa three weeks in a row. Then Youngstown followed by NDSU, which would be the first home game.
That's asking a bit much. I doubt few FBS schools would sign up for that. For a net take of another $100-200k.

Because Presbyterian, St. Francis PA, and Penn are expensive to fly into Spokane.

If you win your conference championship, you have the autobid to the playoffs and once you're in the playoffs you can win a NC...then having a D2 on your schedule doesn't matter.
Not to mention most FCS teams would love to have more home games.

Because schedules are often made several years in advance, and sometimes it's hard to find a game for a particular weekend.
A D2 can give a team a break to recover from injuries.
A D2 helps develop depth and get younger players involved early in the season (and then they are better contributors or working harder to get back on the field).
A D2 can result in nice net income for the home team, which can then use the funds to do other good things for the program.
In my view, who is played early in the season has little to do with how a team will be playing later in the season when the playoff start. Although actually, playing a very good team early in the season can cause a team to start to peak too soon, and then run out of gas later in the season.

NAU does it because there are no regional FCS teams close by to come play in Flagstaff. Zero. Okay, maybe the U of San Diego but for some reason a home and home has never been set up with them. It seems every time NAU schedules a series with a CAA or Southland Conference team, the opposition backs out on the return game to Flagstaff. Wankers. I'm sure it has something to do with travel distance and elevation. Ergo, the yearly body bag game vs. Western New Mexico or Fort Lewis College.

its easy. why do top bcs teams schedule good d1-aa teams?
1)extra home game
2)good chances to win
3)attendance money with minimal effort
4)a break in between a relatively tough schedule

exactly. nothing to do with the other hbcu's... when a school outside the hbcu's f***ks up everyone targets that school alone so i dont see how this affects every hbcu just by being in the same category

They get credit for 1 fcs team/year
FCS teams dont get credit for d2 wins.

Ask Bill Chaves, he can explain why EWU did in 2010.

Many times a team will back out of a game at a late date and force the AD to do whatever he has to do to fill that suddenly open date... many times that schedule filler is a D2 out of necessity, because that's all they can get.
