TxSt Recruiting

We are not hearing much over in San Marcos. Part of that is that our guy that had the coaching staff's ear went over to the Rice board when Bailiff bailed on us. He doesn't come around much. Just yesterday he popped in and said he'd have some things for us in a few days.

Anyway, we have

Frank Reddic
Running Back
Kilgore (TX) Kilgore

Ht: 5-foot-11
Wt: 185 lbs
Class: 2009 (High School)

then, this guy was in the bag. No one else was actively recruiting him, er made an offer

Julian Dozier (CB): 3 star recruit (#61 CB in the NATION according to Rivals.com) - Having seen him personally a few times, he is a STUD (atleast the times I saw the two of them, better than Dominick Maddox). Rivals has Dozier Rated at 5.6, Maddox was graded at a 5.5. (Stony Point; Round Rock, TX) Interested in Baylor, Houston, Oklahoma State, Purdue, North Texas, Ohio, SMU, Texas State, TCU, UTEP. Only offer to date is from Texas State

until yesterday. UTEP had to go in and weasel him away from us.

Here's a post from Bobcatfans:
sorry fellas. talked to my source today and he said that he might be heading to UTEP after all. He said that they came with a last minute offer and he is debating what he is going to do. He put in a good word for TxSt, because my source is actually going to be transfering from TxSouthern and going to TxSt to play secondary, and he wants Dozier to join him...

let's hope it works.
and another post
figures. I was thinking along the lines of what another poster said as well. We may be the only offer, but the moment some 1A school comes in with an offer as well, we usually lose these types of kids. I remember last year there some great commits that bolted the moment the big schools came calling. Kaeron Johnson of last years recruiting class comes to mind.

We also are looking at this guy but we have not offered. He'd likely choose one of the FBS teams anyway

Couple JUCO players we are eyeing but, the other schools that are interested are all FBS. Chances are slim on us getting either...

Joseph Kirkpatrick WLB
6' 2" 230 4.5/40

Carlo Guglielmi DT
6 ft 290 5.0/40

I really hope we get Dozier, our secondary could really use it.

MORE INFO:

Matt Goetz (6-3, 300) from Cibolo Steele HS is a name you will hear be say only once from a Texas State standpoint. Yes, he does have an offer but he is currently entertaining other schools more. He just came back tonight from a visit to Texas Tech and I heard a commitment almost happened. New Mexico, Buffalo are trying to get him down this weekend but I heard it will not happen.

One visitor Tx State had this past weekend was from Plano East offensive tackle, Chase Howland. Howland (6-3, 300) was named 2nd team offensive linemen in District 8-5A. No word on a commitment but I should be hearing something this week.

Another name Bobcat fans should keep an eye out for is Dexter Imadev (5-11, 190, 4.5). He got a late offer from the Bobcats back in December and took a visit to San Marcos on January 16th. He also received offers from UNLV and SMU. He finished this past season with 1,515 yards and 9 tds.

Larry Smith (5-11,180) athlete from McGregor HS played QB but his future is at RB or WR. He has offers from Texas State, Montana State and Abilene Christian.

D'Andre Simmons (6-4, 235) defensive end from Connally. Has offers from Texas State, North Texas, SFA and Lamar.

James French (5-9,168) kicker from China Spring has an offer from Tulsa and Texas State.
