BISMARCK – Eight current North Dakota State University football players and one former player are among 11 people facing charges in connection with voter fraud tied to general election ballot measures.

Four of the accused are starters on the football team.

North Dakota Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem and Secretary of State Al Jaeger identified the individuals charged as: Aireal Boyd, Josh Colville, Josh Gatlin, Demetrius Grey, Jennifer Krahn, Lane O’Brien, Samuel Ojuri, Brendin Pierre, Antonio Rodgers, Bryan Shepherd and Marcus Williams.

All have are charged with facilitation of voter fraud or filing a false statement, according to Stenehjem and Jaeger.

The charges are Class A misdemeanors.

Criminal complaints claim that all circulators of a petition are required to sign an affidavit stating they witnessed all the signatures and that all signatures are genuine.
Something NDSU didn't need...off-field distractions.

The penalty for a Class A misdemeanor (worst of all misdemeanors) may include a fine up to $10,000, or imprisonment for up to 9 months, or both; however, for a repeat offender, the term of imprisonment may increase up to 2 years.

Sounds "minor" by saying misdemeanor, but this could get ugly.....4 of them are starters.

Way too early to jump on things right now though

Williams and Ojuri are their two best players, correct?

The affected measures are the proposed Constitutional initiative establishing a Clean Water, Lands and Outdoor Heritage Fund and the statutory initiative for medical marijuana.
I wonder which part they wanted out of that. :suspicious: Of all the things to get into trouble for, this seems pretty odd.

How many more cases of voter fraud by football players until the NCAA really focuses on this growing problem? :ohno:

From a post a bisonville:

Of the 37,785 signatures submitted, more than
17,034 were deemed invalid, leaving the measure 7,938 signatures short. For the
statutory medical marijuana measure, 13,452 signatures are necessary. Of the 20,092
signatures submitted, only 12,533 were determined to be valid, leaving the committee
more than 900 signatures short.

Well...just got the answer

NO SUSPENSIONS UNTIL THE LEGAL PROCESS PLAYS OUT......

Or what the really means

I am not going to suspend them for a tough game, I'll wait until next week when we play Prairie View AM.

What a surprise that resident NDSU hater Darell breaks the story...slow day at the bottom of the Big Sky?

To answer the other questions on the thread...Williams is their best defensive player and Ojuri is the lead RB. They would be huge losses, absolutely.

My bet is that Bohl does just what Clenz predicts...waits until the day in court, plays them in what figures to be a loss against CSU and then suspends them against Prairie View A&M.

Just wondering if a university VP walked them to a lawyers office too.

So do you approve of the way he is handling the situation?

And if this had happened at UND there would be 300 threads here and on AGS by Bison fans making jokes and pointing out the situation. :coffee:

Eleventy billion times this.

Instead Bisonville is full of people saying it is a conspiracy by the ND A.FG. because he is a UND grad and pissy about the name issue.

Always hate voter fraud because it seems like it is becoming more rampant with each election, especially with the new diebold machines and of course with Acorn committing voter fraud with fake registrations. My first reaction was that the players should be suspended immediately and that the coach only cares about winning and not discipline. However, while charged, they haven't been found guilty as yet.

Actually I saw it posted on a Facebook link from a friend of mine who is a NDSU fan, I thought the college football world (or at least the FCS) can see what the National Champions are doing in Fargo...obviously thinking about more than Colorado State.
