Defense and Offense Trade Shots in Second Scrimmage

by CSU Sports Information

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Consistently strong defensive play and flashes of playmaking ability on offense highlighted Charleston Southern’s second scrimmage of fall camp on Thursday morning.

First-year defensive coordinator Shawn Quinn’s unit continued to impress, holding the CSU offense without a score on each of its first four possessions until junior quarterback Malcolm Dixon directed a touchdown drive that ended with a Teddy Allen run from a yard out.

Senior wide receiver Corvaughn Archie also found the end zone on a long pass play, while senior defensive back Kenny Johnson came away with one of the defense’s two interceptions to highlight the group’s second straight stellar scrimmage.

I have illusions of 6 wins this year. Our roster is one of the youngest that I have seen at CSU in all the time they have been in the FCS. There is some talent there, but it is very very young and will take time to develop. Oh, and participation trophies are what has sissified sports in this country for the last 40 years. Not interested thank you. Win it, great. Lose, line up and play again next week.

12 Seniors
12 Juniors
18 Sophomores
32 Freshman

I'm pretty sure Jay Mills said the same thing this time last year.

When you have 1/3 more freshman than seniors and juniors combined, that's not good.
