Usually the preseason TSN poll has many puzzling picks in the "other receiving votes" section. Did they not publish it this time?
[EDIT] NM, it's there.

NORTHERN ARIZONA - The Lumberjacks have had 4 winning seasons in the last 6 years but have a history of fading late in the season. This year they have the schedule to make a playoff run at the end of the year and with 14 ret starters, the talent to be able to do something once they get there.

Not a single vote for Cal Poly? Talk about completely under the radar.

1. is 14 a lot?
2. 14 starters from a 3-7 team... do you really want them back?

Hey ECB, stick to what you know. That doesn't include anything out West. NAU lost 5 games last year by 8 points or less. They have an up and coming defense, the conference's best RB, and a competent QB. They should be able to get around 6-8 wins this year, barring the usual mid season collapse.

A fan of both but no sign of racism just bad choices considering Harvard is in the Ivy League and they have no playoff system but Norfolk St does.

So you're saying there's a chance they could go 7-1 in the Big Sky? I'll take that wager.

I'm with Hen. They scheduled themselves out of being a playoff contender.

NAU could very well have a decent team, but I don't see them being anything more than 6-5... another SUU in the making. Always hanging with teams, but never really panning out. Some of the western fans have been jocking them for three years running and I keep saying I'll believe it when I see it.

More amusing than anything. As we all know, preseason polls are the most meaningless of all the meaningless polls.

I suppose when you were the only team to beat the national champions, you gotta get a little love.

At this point I'm just going with it....based on what I've seen in preseason polls its questionable if Cal Poly has a win in their entire schedule.....I think I have seen every team (USD and Idaho St included) on their schedule ranked ahead of them in one poll or another. Looking pretty grim for my Mustangs....

I am with you scream. Add to the 14 returning a beast 6'4" at DE from Boise who never got a chance,a Running back from Cal who got stuck behind 2 great RB's at Cal, and their best LB and reciever from last season who had to redshirt from injury. It's all talk till the whistle blows but I love our chances. Montana week 4. Can't wait.

They don't play EWU or MSU. They've played UM real close the last 3 years (one score or less), and we all know about the potential for UM to have a down season this year. Their toughest games outside of @UM are Cal Poly and SUU, both of which they get in Flagstaff. I haven't been touting them at all before this year, and I'm certainly not proclaiming they will absolutely go 6-2 or 7-1 in conference, but if they're ever going to, this is the year. Right now I'd put them at 7-4 and missing out on the playoffs (which happens to coincide with where they're ranked by TSN).

It looks like it is about time for us to spend fifty pages talking about how preseason polls don't mean a thing.
