Signed his scholarship just a couple hours ago.

4-star recruit out of HS, 4.24 40. Four years of eligibility left.

Why did he leave Oregon?

Looks like a pure depth chart issue. Very fast receiver, but also shorter than his competition.
Seems like a great pick-up for Appy.

Because he doesn't run anywhere near a 4.2. An 18 year old kid would start for the Packers if he ran a 4.2.

If he's the same one I'm thinking of, he had some family issues and wanted to be closer to home. I believe he is from Miami. Consencious in Oregon was that he was going to FCS or lower and be closer to his family.

Of course a few years back, Roper told the Ducks he wanted to be closer to his family in Georgia, then went to Montana.

Good to see another skilled wide-out. If he comes in, works hard, and leans the ropes there could be some prime-time opportunities for him. Tony Washington and Andrew Peacock are skilled, fast guys with the benefit of being 4th-year juniors, so Tacoi has his work cut out for him. AND apparently, Sean Price is lighting-'em-up in scrimmage work thus far.

He might return a few kicks if he can beat out Steven Miller (likely return guy?). Steven is pretty dang good, too.

You don't know that. People said the same thing about Taiwan Jones.

Oh really? His best time at his pro day was a 4.27 and he is widely considered the fastest guy on the Raiders, which is saying something.

Just admit you're being a nay-sayer about this Oregon kid because App State landed him and we'll move on. :coffee:

WEll its no guarantee he is gonna step right in and end up a Walter Payton nominee and lead App to 3 straight NC again. He could end up that way, but he could just be a solid roleplayer, or he could end up another highly touted FBS flop. We dont know what he is going to do because he has barely even been on the field in a game situation. Give the kid a chance at game speed before you call him App's next savior or pan him as a waste of a scholarship.

Didn't see anyone above mention the Payton award or National Championships in regard to this kid. He is simply another potential weapon that might or might not pan out at App. At least he has 4 years left for App to find out. :coffee:

Nice post, Debbie Downer. Do you prefer your glass half empty? :coffee:

He's just pissy about the impending pounding the Falwell Flamers are going to take at the hands of the Griz.

Don't think anyone here has mentioned that.

I'm hoping you'll thrash them because you lost the week before. ;)

Not at all. I just tend to take a wait and see attitude when it comes to FBS transfers. He may turn out to be a Walter Payton Award winner, all time great in university history and NFL star, or he could turn out to be a solid contributor for a good team, or he could turn out to be a total dud. Nobody knows how he is going to do just yet. we've had a couple FBS guys come through here. One will probably be a HoFer when his turn comes up I believe next year (Rashad Jennings, now with the Jacksonville Jaguars), a couple have been very serviceable contributors (Walt Aikens, Darryl Robertson, Tommy Beecher, Ervin Garner, I could go on and on), and guys who have been complete busts (Paul Troth...yeah exactly). Im just not the type to crown somebody the GOAT (greatest of all time) before they even play a down of football at this level.

Pro day times mean zero. Hand timed with the coach/school purposely starting slow. What was his combine time?

Which posts above by ASU'ers or anyone else said that he's the greatest of all time, future HOF'er, etc.? T-Dog stated his Rivals stars and his supposed 40 time. Aho said he needed to learn the ropes to contribute. I never even heard of him until yesterday. :coffee:

I wasnt speaking to anyone in particular, more using some rather extreme language to illustrate the attitude some (though none that I have seen here) may have because of how highly touted an FBS transfer can be. Marcus Coker transferred to Stony Brook after getting (I believe) the boot from Iowa. He was an All-AMerican last year. I am still taking a wait and see attitude with him even though he was an established FBS starter now playing at an FCS school. Im sorry for sounding like I was downing on ASU fans and their reaction to the transfer, I was simply stating (as you mention Aho did) that its gonna take some time before we know how good he is going to be in the black and gold of the Mountaineers
