For those that have been to BCS - here's the finished product of the Phase 2 upgrade (Phase 1 was the addition to the home side) new North Endzone addition.
Still working on concession stands, ticket office and bookstore but the exterior work is done.
No, the south endzone will not be bowled in until attendance warrants it

Very cool. The end zone addition reminds me a little of what Montana State did with theirs, except maybe a little more symmetrical in relation to the existing stands.

They are in the process of now adding ribbon board all the way around.

They have the old mid tier signage down. No pics yet of it being installed but they have until 7PM CST on Sept 8 to get it done.

I'll be taking pics on Sept 8 and post a few from the inside.

Are they going to tear down the original seating and replace it to make it uniform?

On the east side? No, not exactly.
Future expansion calls for a 3rd tier on the east side and bowling in the south, adding suites to all of those sections.

Next phase, scheduled for 2014, is bowling in the south to meet up with the EZC. I would assume suites will be added when the third tier is built.

That's a shame....the old grandstands look like shit with the new ones on one side of it...will look worse when it's surrounded by them.


Otherwise, nice looking expansion.

They didn't tear down the west side stands. They just added the club seats, suites and new press box areas, with the whole new external facade. I believe that's what will be done on the east side, only there will be a tier of seating and suites. But that will be the last phase; which has yet to be funded/approved.

so if they try to paint the old structure, the same color as the new structure.. they'll have to make the entire thing ADA compliant??

It's not paint. Looks to me like it's just new vs old concrete. The new side will eventually look exactly the same.

Yeah it's just old concrete. Might look odd both worth not spending the money to redo the whole stadium or mess with touchin it and bringing to ADA compliance. Sits 30,000.

A power wash might help some but that concrete has been sitting there getting used for more than just football (T&F, Special Olympics, HS games, special field events) since 1981. I don't think it would make much difference in the long run.

I agree it looks a bit weird (perhaps ugly even) but when it's filled and pictures are taken it will look a hell of a lot better.

Perhaps I'll still be viable enough to get to games when the whole thing is completed.
