Lettered in football, basketball and track three times each at Eastside Catholic High School... earned first team All-Conference honors as a cornerback and running back... team MVP on offense, defense and special teams... earned Seattle Times Player of the Week Award... as a senior running back, he rushed 124 times for 748 yards and 13 touchdowns... also caught 26 passes for 392 yards and three touchdowns... averaged 27.2 yards as a kick returner... as a junior, he rushed 103 times for 939 yards and 11 touchdowns... caught 22 passes for 352 yards and three scores... chose Portland State over Montana and Idaho.

2012: Listed as a backup at field cornerback on preseason depth chart. In four spring scrimmages, he had 12 tackles.

Western Washington: Played the 2008 season at Western Washington in Bellingham, Wash., before the school announced it was dropping football on Jan. 9, 2009. He remained in school at Western through December 2011. He played in seven games as a true freshman, finishing with four tackles.

HS: Graduated from Ferris HS in 2008. Was a first team Associated Press All-State selection as a senior, and also earned second team All-State honors from the Seattle Times. He was the Greater Spokane League Defensive MVP and was selected to play in East-West All-Star Game. He was credited with 120 tackles and intercepted three passes as a senior, and also had 764 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns as running back. In addition, he caught three passes for 58 yards and a touchdown. He was team captain on a Saxons squad that finished 12-1, won the GSL title and reached the semifinals of the State 4A Playoffs. As a junior, he was a first team All-GSL selection on team that advanced to the first round of the State 4A Playoffs. Earned most inspirational, captain and best defensive back awards. He was second team all-league as sophomore, as he started and lettered three years at Ferris. He also earned two letters in baseball and one in track and field. He was second team All-GSL in baseball as a senior. Eagle teammates Jeff Minnerly (’08) and Jordan Tonani (’11) also attended Ferris.

Personal: Interdisciplinary studies major with a 3.71 grade point average. Born 10/20/89 in Spokane, Wash. Will turn 23 the day Eastern plays Sacramento State. Son of Dan Murphy and Marchand Bozarth. His father played baseball at Gonzaga, but his mother, uncle and grandmother all attended Eastern, thus making him a third-generation EWU student from his family.

High School: Graduated from Oakland Tech HS in 2010...named first team all-city as a senior defensive back...ran a 4.5 second 40-yard dash...as a senior, he returned two interceptions for touchdowns...also played as a wide receiver and served as the team’s kicker and punter...helped the team to a league title with a 9-1 overall record...also competed in track where he ran 23.2 in the 200 and 11.1 in the 100.

Personal: Majoring in business administration...parents are Edgar and Karen Gillies.
