If you're looking for Boiling Springs, Spartanburg or Greenville, they're in the Appalachia poll.

Don't get downtown or to the beach too often do ya?eagleskins wrote:Charleston is not a college town. I live here. Not close. Greenville should be on the list.
Not even close. No real schools. Not a single football playing "decent" team. Not to mention a powerhouse. Weak basketball schools must make college towns nowadays.Ibanez wrote:What?eagleskins wrote:Charleston is not a college town. I live here. Not close. Greenville should be on the list.![]()

Charleston, home to 2 4 -year colleges on the peninsula isn't a college town? It's not like Clemson where the town revolves around the schools, but Charleston is a college town. I guess NYC isn't a college "town" either. The downtown retailers and restaurants cater to the college student, there is the Game Day atmosphere with both schools and there are the stereotypical CofC and Citadel stickers and paraphernalia in the stores and eateries.
I've lived here longer than you, i'm sure. I've taken part of the CofC and Citadel events. I've been to the pep rallies and the parades in the streets. Charleston is a college town.
And if you read his first post, he states why Greenville was left out. Greenville isn't a college town. Furman is outside the city. North Greenville is further out. Are you saying that the closest schools, Bob Jones is what makes Greenville a college town? Bob Jones is on the outskirts of town. The Citadel is close to the neck but near the center. CofC is in the middle of the peninsula.
What is your definition of "college town."
I live on Folly Beach. Nobody is ever mistaken Charleston for a college town. 80 percent of CofC's students are "yankees". And I hate to use that stupid word.CSUBUCDAD wrote:Don't get downtown or to the beach too often do ya?eagleskins wrote:Charleston is not a college town. I live here. Not close.
