We all know the story of EWU's new QB Kyle Padron - but there was another QB that left SMU as well....Stephen Kaiser.

Kaiser was the 17th rated QB nationally in the class of 2010 and apparently had offers from Wisconsin, Colorado St, Arkansas St, and SMU. He took his RS year in 2011, and was set to battle for the starting spot last season but ended up battle two separate cases of mono that effectively ended his year last year before it started. With "golden child" Garrett Gilbert heading to SMU and some other reasons Kaiser decided to leave SMU. He recieved a ton of praise from June Jones after he signed.

Comments from the SMU board after the rumor of the transfer broke
SK: had two hard bouts with Mono, and I don’t think he was ever at 100% while he was here. He may have been a little closer to his form these past few months. But, his inability to practice, no matter how much film you watch, put him behind the “Eight Ball” grasping the system, add that to the physical challenge of bouncing back from Mono … that’s a tough combination
....
He may have been everything JJ said about him coming out of high school. But, unfortunate circumstances put an unfortunate twist to his story

The initial rumor was that he was headed to MSU. He enrolled in classes there, played catch with MSU players (confirmed from tweets) and then.....left before it ever really got started. Reading the Missouri State board it sounds as though he, and his family, were scared off by a recent letter was published in a newspaper that surfaced regarding HC Terry Allen's future at MSU.

From MSU's board this past Tuesday
Art said on his show today that Kaiser was all set to come here but the Springfield News Leader article saying TA was done after this year scared him and his parents and he backed out.

Meanwhile a rumored popped up on PantherNation on June 12th that someone had sources with the team that said a SMU transfer was on the team. No one could figure out who as there was, and still is NO CONNECTION anywhere on the internet between any SMU player and UNI. That was after Padron was confirmed at EWU and a ton of tweets were out that Kaiser was at MSU. No one could figure out who it was.....

Turns out it was Kaiser. UNI now has 3 QB's on the roster that are legit D1 starter caliber...all rSo or younger.

Missouri State found a way to lose to UNI without even playing a game!
