On to part 3 and a look at the guys on the other end of all of the QBs we recently looked at

Nathan Perera leads a very experienced receiving corps for the Bucs, coming off a career year in 2011 finishing second in the conference in receptions (43) and receiving yards (709)and fifth in TDs (4) on the way to first team all-conference honors. Mike Davis gives them a good slot threat and Corvaughn Archie is a good second option behind Perera

Coastal Carolina

Chris Presley 18 Rec 223 Yards 3 TD

Hazel had another solid year after storming onto the scene against Liberty in 2010, scoring three times in a 45-31 upset victory. Hazel led the Chants in yards, catches and TDs in 2011 on the way to second team honors. Wesley and Presley will give either of the QBs experienced options under the new offensive scheme in 2012

Its not often that a receiver with 2 catches is the #1 receiver going into the season, but Marquis Sanders was recently granted a sixth year by the NCAA and with the top 4 receivers all gone (including back to back first team all conference honoree James Perry III), he is going to be needed to lead a receiving corps that combined (among the returning three) for nine catches in 2011.

Pat Kelly steps into the numer one receiver role after the graduation of Chris Summers (now with the Chicago Bears), but he certainly is no stranger to Big South defenses as five of his eight career TDs have gone for 50 yards or more so look for PK to be getting a lot of focus in game plans against Liberty. Henderson is being moved over from QB (much like Mike Brown was) following a redshirt year, and many coaches remember who remember what Brown did that year would be wary to keep an eye on him as well.

PC is going to need their receivers to make life as easy as possible for new starting QB Tamyn Garrick after the dismissal of Ryan Singer. McKie stepped in as a true freshman and played well and Ruff and Bailey offer upperclassman leadership for what will be an inexperienced group.

Stony Brook

Norrell made an immediate impact after coming in from El Camino JC by way of Washington State University, leading the team in yards, tying for the team lead in catches and finishing second in TDs. Matt Brevi tied for tops in the conference with his 7 TD grabs. This is a group primed for another strong year.

James Rogers 17 124 Yards 0 TD

Dexter Bridge came on well just like McKie of PC, stepping in as a true freshman and finishing 6th on the team in catches, second among returning receivers behind James Rogers (no relation to the Rogers brothers from Oregon State).

Matt Brevi graduated. I think it's worth mentioning SBU's maryland transfer Adrian Coxson. He was an ESPNU150 recruit coming out of high school.

Thanks for the update oceandogs...as for Coxson, Id have the same rule as I do with Coker in the RB thread. since he was not in the Big South last season, I cant rank him against Big South players. Also, he's an FBS transfer so I keep the jury out on them going in by design.

Also, VMI has back Stefawn Ross (6'4, 215; Sr. 11 rec., 139 yds, 1 TD) who hasn't yet reached full potential. Sparky also signed two more WR's in the 6'5" range, who can run.

Two thoughts:

a) God help Gardner Webb
b) Stony Brook looks like its receivers (as a group) are the class of the conference again...that's a nice trio to return.

Gardner-Webb isnt looking good going in that is for sure

Have to agree with the Flames fan. All our high profile transfers have to deliver and live up to their reps. If Coker and Coxson play as they should we be will be more than fine. Im always skeptical with NFL potential players that seem to fall short and Coker and Coxson have that potential.

1) Who would turn down that kind of help?

2) Statistically, there is no doubt that G-dubb doesn't have much returning. On the other hand, there is talent here with great speed, good height and the question is, will the QB whoever it may end up being, surprise.

3) With the full starting O-line returning and a solid if not excellent running game, one can see where opponents load the box and dare us to throw it. That can lead to big plays in the passing game. The million dollar question is will it? Only time will tell.

4) The schedule is maybe the toughest in the first 6 weeks as any FCS team will face so the Dawgs better have their stuff together.

This guy Kelly since you consider him a deep threat what type of footspeed does he have in the 40?????

I havent seen him clocked as of yet but I dont think 4.3 is that far fetched for him. As I mentioned, he had gone for 50+ on five of his eight career TDs so youre gonna need some wheels to be able to go big that many times.

Stony Brook is an incredible team. CCU will have some growing pains, I think, with the new scheme but I think we can manage. I'm looking forward to the season.
