A football player is one of two Old Dominion University students arrested in connection with alleged sexual assaults on two people, a school spokeswoman confirmed Saturday night.

The students are Reid Evans and Jack Ly, said ODU’s Jennifer Mullen Collins. Evans, 22, is a wide receiver from Hampton who plays on the football team. Ly is not on the team, Collins said.

Both are charged with two counts each of rape, sodomy, abduction, conspiracy to commit sodomy and conspiracy to commit abduction. They are being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond and scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Collins said that there are two alleged victims and neither is an ODU student.

She said in an email message sent to students Friday night that the circumstances of the alleged rapes “may suggest the possible involvement of date rape drugs.” She said in the statement that victims reported symptoms consistent with the use of those substances.

According to their stats was their 2nd leading receiver last season and 10'. Was their leading receiver in 09'

Future drop down transfer to Montana

He was our possession receiver. A guy that caught a lot of passes 0-10 yards down field and occasionally slipped behind a defender (no homo). We are absolutely loaded at the receiver position but he was a 3 year starter and was our primary punt returner. The loss will hurt but there is plenty of time to prepare his replacement.

Nonsense, if JMU is beating UD anywhere these days, it's in arrest records and other police involvement. Sadly, UD has fallen far behind in this regard after taking an early, but fleeting lead in it years and years ago. We can't keep up with those Virginia schools in this one specific regard. Bummer.

UD maintains a lead over any of the VA schools in serious of the crime. JMU has had some alcohol, drug & assault arrests over the years, but nothing to match an armed home invasion robbery by 3 players to steal drugs, cash & jewelry.

Ancient history. Heck, I'm shocked that story is even still available on the web. You figure considering the average age of a JMU fan, the average fan from JMU was just entering middle school when that happened. And unlike JMU, those guys never played for UD again. JMU finds ways to make sure guys get back on the field as soon as possible. Just because you guys don't consider what your players do as "serious" doesn't mean they aren't. For shame.

No. ODU is I-AA for another season.

7 months from now it would belong on the "Other College Sports" forum.

In additon to their 3 yr returning starter, 2011 3rd team All CAA at WR & punt returner who was arrested & charged with rape, a 2nd ODU player, a returning starting CB, was charged over the weekend.
