The press conference will be video stream live. Video stream Link: http://gopoly.com/index.php?p=sports&ta ... e_id=63411

Funny thing is that former Cal Poly head coach Rich Ellerson left to become the head coach at Army. Tim Walsh spent the last two years at Army as their offensive coordinator. Can you say coach swap.

Huh? Walsh left, he wasn't fired. Walsh went 90-68 in 14 seasons at PSU and 7-4 his final season there (with 3 FBS games, no less). That's certainly better than Glanville's 7-15 record.

Its official Tim Walsh is the new head football coach at Cal Poly. He was the offensive coordinator at Arny the past two seasons so im guessing that Cal Poly is going to keep the Triple Option?

Who knows? Army switched to the TripOp this past season after running something more conventional in 2007. Walsh used a run-first west coast type of system when he was at PSU.

Said in the press conference he is going to run the triple option at Cal Poly with a few different looks. Said it was a good fit. On a local sports radio show today he said that he is bringing in a triple option coach to run the offense. Good move in my opion.

I was scratching my head at first when they announced they were hiring the OC from Army, but the more I look into his past as a head coach, the more I like the hire. He won at Sonoma State (only winning coach at Sonoma State history) and Portland State were he did not have a lot of support from the admin and community. Glanville has a lot more support (bigger recruiting budget, higher pay for assistants ect...) and he has not done nearly as well. I think he will get more support at Cal Poly from both the administration (they gave him a four year $190,000 a year contract) and the community.

Walsh took over for a legend in Portland (Pokey Allan) and he took the team to four straight playoffs. Portland State then moved up to I-AA and after a few lean years playing with DII players he turned Portland State into a good I-AA program.

Former assistant coaches under Walsh include Dan Hawkins (Colorado), Gary Patterson (TCU), Chris Petterson (Boise State) and Chris Brown (just step down as DC at Fresno State for health reasons). Obviously he has an eye for talented coaches. I think he will put together a good staff at Cal Poly.

BTW, I got a chance to talk to coach Walsh today at the press conference and I was impressed.
