Former USC wide receiver Vidal Hazelton was denied permission by the school to speak to any Pacific-10 Conference schools or Notre Dame as he searches for a new college.

Hazelton, who left USC in December, was unable to speak to UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State or the Irish.

"Usually you don't allow a player to go to a school you play against," USC coach Pete Carroll said.

Hazelton's current list of schools includes Pittsburgh and several Football Championship Subdivision schools (Western Michigan, Florida International, Georgia Southern).

Two other possibilities are Syracuse and Delaware. Hazelton is friends with former Penn State quarterback Pat Devlin, who recently transferred to Delaware.

"He's contemplating hard about going I-AA," Dexter Hazelton said. "He probably make a decision by end of the this week."

alot of players think that they are soooo good that they will just do a bounce back to a smaller school and ball out! doesnt happen the way you think it will. the competition/ the game is different. yout qb might not be as good as you thought, coach might not like you. you neeeeeever know!

And every FBS WR makes it to the NFL? Silly bastard...

If he has talent, the NFL will find him, regardless of where he plays. If not, doesn't matter.

NAU has had a number of wide recievers drafted since I started there - including 1st and 2nd rounders.

Yeah, tell Tim Hightower, Brandon Keith, Sean Morrey, Ben Patrick, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Pago Togafu, Jerheme Urban, Elliot Vallejo, Kurt Warner, Reggie Wells, Eduardo Castanega, and Orea Jones that.

That's JUST the TWELVE Arizona Cardinals that are NOT from FBS schools.

yes, that is why 25% of the starting QBs left in the playoffs went to FCS schools.

Talent evaluator you are not...

Shawn Collins, pick #28 to Atlanta. Yeah, he was a draft bust, but Michael Haynes, picked the year before by New Orleans in the 5th round sure the heck wasn't.

These are the numbers for players who were NOT FBS (so, were either FCS, Div II, Div III, NAIA, JuCo, Canadian, or no college):

Arizona - 12
Seattle - 2
San Francisco - 6
St Louis Rams - 6
Dallas Cowboys - 16 (including Cory Proctor from Montana ;) )
Atlanta Falcons - 14 (including Kroy Biermann from Montana ;) )
Miami Dolphins - 12 (including Dan Carpenter from Montana, and Lex Hilliard from Montana on the practice squad).

That is just a random sampling of 7 teams throughout the league. Long story short---as dback said, if you HAVE talent, they WILL find you. Yeah, your odds aren't as great if you go FCS, but if you're good enough you'll be playing on Sundays.
