Trent Hurley has announced he has transferred to Delaware from Bowling Green University.
Former 3-star recruit from Western PA will have 3 years of eligibility at UD. Was 1st-team All-State in PA & took his HS team to the state championship game.

Not a very glitzy transfer, but will reserve judgement until we seem him throw in the spring.

Don't need glitz, just need him to be good. Flacco didn't come to UD with tons of press clippings and accolades and that turned out okay. Nobody was floored that we got Andy Hall in '02 and that turned out well. Heck, you could argue that one of our two most visible/glitzy recruits, the kid from Ohio State who I refuse to say his name, was easily the worst QB ever at UD (gets a lot of competition from the other not-to-be-named QB in 2001).

Riccio was no glitz either.
Devlin was the only guy with the big-time pedigree that came to Newark, harder to have a better background than he had.

Flacco was a highly sought after high school prospect from my home state of NJ.

Another QB transfer for the Ray-Ban Man.

Yeah, it's nuts. I mean, just look at the rosters for Sam Houston State and NDSU, there aren't any transf....
Wait. Scratch that. Nevermind. They are
loaded with FBS transfers. It must not be illegal after all.

Three words: Bo Levi Mitchell.

I bet it is hard for UD to get a good high school QB. They always end up turning the team over to a transfer.

Yep. That sleezbag Keeler probably promises them all they'll get tons of playing time, too.

My friends nephew chose W&M over UD and that was part of the reason.

Delaware hasn't had trouble recruiting high school QB's at all, as evidenced by our #1 starter from this past season, Trevor Sasek. Had he not suffered what could very well be a career-ending injury and the backups performed up to their capabilities, Keeler would not have had to go the transfer route for 2012. Hopefully Trevor can recover and compete for the starting job.
The potential for competition with transfers certainly didn't keep Keeler from signing David Shinskie. Alas, Shinskie went the MLB route and never played for UD but did end up starting for BC after his pro baseball career was over. We've also had another projected starting QB suffer a career ending injury and had to send one other one home because he couldn't handle college life. This year we're back in the hunt for a few other QB recruits. So, we're doing OK in that regard.
Any school that turns away the best available student-athletes, whether transfers or not, is foolish.

I don't blame Montana for being the FCS school with the most number of QB transfers. Good for them.

This much is true. Another thread a few weeks back led me to count the Montana transfers. They had 20

transfers listed on their roster, (8 FBS, 12 JUCO IIRC). That fanbase would be wise to tread lightly in any discussion of transfers.
We (UD) always get flagged for our transfers because they are
usually damn good. Hell, some have been known to get drafted in the first round, start their first game ever suiting up as a QB in an NFL uniform, and then lead their squad to the playoffs every year they've played. It's nuts I tell ya.

He was, afterall, the designer of EWU's only NC.

I thought it was Bill Fette? Let me do some research and get back to you.
DONE. I Google'd EWU National Championship and the magical Google told me it was Bill Fette, and Bill Fette only.

You must be confusing KCK with Little Tom DeMarco and his tiny baby man hands.

A new QB will only be able to do so much with the offense KCK likes to run. Throw in the bag of manure we get sold about this offense being so complex to learn, and I think I'll reserve any excitement until the next time we sweep the MVC in the playoffs.
Now, if Keeler actually plans on changing the offense there might be a real reason to get excited.

As much as the offense has its flaws, it is the same offense that has gotten us to 3 national title games in 10 years. Not a lot of offenses have that track record. Certainly the offense isn't perfect, but it's not ineffective.
