I'd say likely, if not for the hilariously one-sided officiating going on in the concrete-dungeon they call the Fargo dome. GS is the superior team by any measure, but all it takes is a handful of greased palms to completely nullify that talent advantage.

Were I a GS fan attending the game (apologies to those actually consigned to that Hellish fate), I'd be rolling video; won't make a difference now, but ultimately, history will judge those cheating, hateful bastardsl

Which game were you watching that had one-sided officiating? If anything, NDSU's opponents this postseason have been getting better calls than NDSU has. Example: the defensive pass interference against MWILL in the James Madison/NDSU game(total BS call) on 3rd and long that led to an incredible TD catch(which on replay showed him bobbling it and finally maintain possession after he stepped out of bounds). Let us grow out of our junior high mindset of blaming the refs if our team loses and accept the fact that our team just got outplayed. This is playoffs, win or go home. There isn't enough complaining in the world that will change the outcome, so the least you can do is just wait until next season to get your revenge.
NDSU will be in the championship game, not because of terrible refs, but because they bust their humps every week to win and they deserve it.

I like where your heads at but we're going to take this one game at a time if you don't mind. NDSU from all I've heard is a tough place to go in and win and if we're fortunate to play a good clean game I hope we come out with a victory. Don't look past SHSU either sure they might not play the most prime competition but at this point in the playoffs there are no more cupcakes left. These are all hard working teams with damn good talent and solid coaching. Any of these teams could hoist that trophy.

The thing is...and I just tried to look this up...Montana has been horrible in the playoffs on opponents' home fields. They haven't had to do that much. But when theyv'e done it they've lost the overwhelming majority of the time. As far as I can tell by trying to count just now they are 1-8 in the playoffs playing on opponents' home fields. The one win was a big one. It was the 1995 national championship game against Marshall played on Marshall's home field. But 1-8 is still 1-8. Or something close to that in any case.

This would be epic, but there's still some football to play. I'd like to see PAU win over the Griz.

Montana is 2-7 in true postseason away games since the DI-AA playoffs started in 1978. They are 1-4 in neutral site matchups (NCs in Chattanooga). Not that terrible considering they were a different team/program before 1995 when 4 of those road defeats took place ('94 @ Youngstown State, '89 @ Georgia Southern, '88 @ Idaho, '82 @ Idaho).

Since Dave Dickenson brought home the NC in 95, the Griz are 2-3 in true road playoff games. Not bad considering the visiting team is usually considered the underdog going in and not supposed to win.

I can understand the 1-4 record in NC games in Chattanooga because those came against the true #1 in the nation those years. Does any other team have a winning record against the #1 in a 5 game series?

I think there's something to the argument that better teams tend to get to play at home but I did this once before a few years ago and I'm pretty sure that both Georgia Southern and Youngstown State have winning road playoff records historically. I don't think the "better teams play at home" thing entirely accounts for the difference between how Montana's done at home and how Montana's done away from home in the playoffs. I don't know if you'll be able to find another program that's played a reasonable number of playoff games that has as distinct a difference between home playoff success and road playoff success.

You seem to have missed Montana going to #1 JMU in '08 and kicking their butt in the Semis. Three weeks ago, Montana went into MSU and completely dominated another #1 team. The Griz have won their last five by no less than 25 points, the last three against playoff teams. No one is playing better now - at home or on the road. Look for yet another statement from Montana on Friday like the one last Friday when #2 UNI was pounded. Then there will be plenty of time for the winner of the ESPNU game on Saturday to think about it.
