He was the original CCU coach, hired in 2001 to start the program in 2003.

hearing that he has been reassigned to stay with the university just not as Head Coach. So the search is on, who is the next CCU head coach?

WCU should have Bennett on speed dial. He could really help in building their program.

I hear young Steve Spurrier Jr is at the top of their list

There sure are plenty of searches going on these days. I am anxious to see who they are able to attract to Conway.
Frankly I'll personally miss Coach Bennett. Even setting aside the cat hitting the screen door, he has been one of my favorite interview subjects ever. He's always candid and colorful. As for his coaching, it clearly has been exposed a bit the past few years.
CCU bosses say they weren't getting the bang for the bucks invested..........
Also, FB Equip. manager fired, supposedly taking meal vouchers meant for other Athletic dept. personnel, and forging them and eating the meals himself........or similar.
Steve Spurrier Jr. - WR's Coach, South Carolina
Kevin Steele - Defensive Coordinator, Clemson
Maybe if Spurrier Jr. comes in we can get our foot in the door and finally play the Gamecocks.

I remember the first game, my Sophomore year. I remember the first televised game, with DB dropping f bombs. This guy is a great coach but has an explosive, aggressive personality that comes off poorly.

Coastal AD Hunter Yurachek... “I have gotten calls, e-mails, text messages from schools such as Stanford, Michigan State, North Carolina, UCLA just to name a few,” he said. “The interest has been phenomenal. There’s been NFL coaches that have reached out to me. Right now, the interest in this position has really blown me away, especially this quickly.”

I was just about to post this article. It looks like CCU is getting some great attention.

I'm ready to start hearing names! Although I heard that Steve Spurrier Jr. is a done deal, They are just going to go through an interview process so that it doesn't look like they fired Bennett just to get Spurrier.

Unless this Spurrier thing is a done deal, this is VERY bad timing on CCU's part. Their VB coach just resigned, so they now have TWO head coaching spots to fill AT THE SAME TIME. Good luck with that....

If they really want Junior so bad then why would they care if it looks like they fired Bennett just to get him?

Mark, the fact that the other vacancy is volleyball is neither here nor there. The point is that conducting TWO national head coach searches at the same time is not something to envy.

They have a lot more time to get a volleyball coach squared away than they do a football coach.
Also been hearing that Jax St coach might be in the running/interested.
Coastal Carolina University is banking the future of its football program on billionaire businessman Joe Moglia, who will be introduced as the Chanticleers’ new head coach at a press conference today, a joint investigation between grandstrandsportsreport.com, sportstalksc.com and thepressboxradio.com has discovered.
In a surprising move that comes just nine days after the firing of Coastal football founder and former coach David Bennett, CCU has decided to hire a 61-year-old relative newcomer to college football who has made a bigger mark on Wall Street than the gridiron

WOW. I'm actually speechless. Is coastal in thant much financial trouble? If he lands some big recruits, someone better check his offshore bank transactions. haha
