NSU @ ODU Sold Out

Foreman Field has been sold out (19,818) for this Sat. first round game pitting cross-city rivals Norfolk State and Old Dominion. Awesome job selling out the game on Thanksgiving weekend by Tuesday morning. The game atmosphere will be loud, with a sellout crowd and two bands, but not cold. Sunny with a high of 71.

Word is that approximately 2100 tickets, instead of the 500 minimum, were allocated to Norfolk St as a goodwill gesture. That means that the remainder was gobbled up by ODU which is pretty impressive.

Yep. Only 60 were made available to the general public this morning which means the students, ODU season ticket holders, and fans on the season-ticket waiting list gobbled up around 17700 tickets. GO MONARCHS!

Very reminiscent of the UD-DSU playoff matchup in 2007. Should be a great atmosphere. Go NSU!

So glad JMU @ a half-empty EKU is the national TV game.

I expect a similar outcome as well.

BTW, does anyone know if NCAA playoff rules prohibit MEAC bands to play during actual gameplay? When Hampton visited ODU this year, that's all they did and it was really annoying. I know NSU's band is even bigger and louder so I'm hoping the rules disallow it.

I know it's not going to look real good on TV, but I'm thinking they probably felt like JMU is a more well recognized name to the casual football fan. The Dukes did win a National Championship fairly recently (2004?) while ODU is just in it's third year and NSU is a MEAC school, which traditionally don't fare too well in the post season. It is a shame though as it promises to be both more competitive on the field and to provide a much more exciting crowd atmosphere.

Congrats. A lot of games played this week have lower numbers due to Thanksgiving so thats pretty impressive.

In 2007, I don't recall DSU's band playing during gameplay, but they did belt out a tune, complete with some nifty dance moves, during an injury timeout to a Delaware player while he was sprawled on the field. This followed half of their team running down and Desean Jacksoning our fans in the north endzone during the pregame.
Also 44-7.

It will be another one of these on Saturday:
Too bad we won't get to showcase the game on Saturday.

The parking garage will be packed with people (railbirds) for this one.

Doing some advanced planning for the UD trip down to that slum next season...
Do you have to park in the garage to watch a game from the garage? If not, is there any free parking nearby?
Just trying to keep expenses low!
Also, is there a way to get across the CBBT for free?

That garage is for season ticket holders, but anyone can watch a game from up there. Most of the railbirds are people who don't have tickets but still wanna see the game. Adds a bit of Wrigley-esque atmosphere to the stadium.
And parking is free in one of the other two garages near the Ted (basketball arena).

OK, great. Now how do I get across the bridge tunnel for free?

What? Why pay to cross a bridge. You damn EC(b)'ers and your crazy rules.
Try hitchhiking.

Yuck. 303 miles vs 177 miles. 6 hrs (with DC traffic) vs 3 hrs.
Go back, sharpen your pencil, and find me a way to get across the CBBT free. You have about nine months to get back to be.

Good point. What's the biggest football-capable venue in Norfork?

The best part was NSU's AD saying he wasn't going to bid before the bidding deadline passed. What a dumbass.
edit: NSU has the largest stadium in the area. It holds 30000 but has space for temporary bleachers.
