BILLINGS - When was the last time you couldn't catch a Cats or Griz football game on TV? Especially a playoff game? It's out of our hands - but that's what it's boiling down to when Montana and MSU open playoffs a week from Saturday.
ESPN owns the rights to all FCS playoff games and only plans to show second round games for Montana and Montana State on ESPN3. AKA, the internet. Unfortunately for fans of either team, there's only one ESPN3 provider in Montana, and that's a small company named 3 Rivers Communications in Missoula.
Athletics Directors at both schools say they're trying to lobby the NCAA and ESPN for local television, but it doesn't look good. ESPN is also refusing to sell broadcast rights to local stations as they have done in the past.
Radio may be the only option for most fans not just statewide, but nationwide.
Fans wishing to express concern can contact ESPN at 1-888-549-3776, EXT 3

I think you would be better off getting in contact with your isp. I believe it is probably Optimum,(In Montana) it would be much easier for them to get ESPN3 with a volume of complaints from everyone, rather than everyone calling ESPN where they probably get literally tens of thousands of complaints and requests a day. I think you will have a better chance of getting your isp to provide ESPN3 than you will getting ESPN to allow 3rd party broadcast rights.

You people in Big Sky country must just be slow.
ESPN3 isn't the only outlet to watch these games.
All you need to do is goto another FREE internet site, like
http://www.firstrowsports.tv" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and watch the friggin game from there.
Don't wanna watch on your computer screen, fine, you have like 10 days to go to a Radio Shack/Best Buy/local gun & hardware store & get the cables to hook your computer feed up to your TV.
Man, it's intelligence levels like this that bring down the rest of America.
And you're welcome for the information - just stop the whining!!!!!

I'm all for being anti-ESPN.....however, this isn't on them. This in on your ISP's for not doing anything to get ESPN3.
I flooded my ISP's customer service email for months to get ESPN because there are 2 ISP's in Cedar Falls that do about 99% of households and one of them carried ESPN3 and the other one didn't. The one that didn't is superior in almost every way and I wasn't switching to the other one for the sole reason of ESPN3.
Finally after over a year of pressure from many many Cedar Falls residents they added it to their line up a year and a half a head of when they said they would be.

I think there is a legit concern due to incredibly slow connections for most of the state, may not be able to stream the game worth a hoot.
Correct me if I'm wrong there boys.

So...you can't stream video from any site then? CBS, NBC, ABC, CNBC, MSNBC, channelsurfing (RIP), frontrowsports, skype, justin.tv, chatroulette, etc......?
None of them.....?
Are all of you still running Windows 95 or 98 with 56k dial up?

This is the same issue during the early stages of ESPN2. Many cable carriers would not provide ESPN2 so ESPN decided to broadcast the Duke-Carolina basketball games on ESPN2 for a couple of years in a row. In ACC country, there was a huge push put on the cable companies to provide ESPN2 and it eventually worked. ESPN makes a lot more money from the cable companies to include one of their channels (or in this case, internet services) than they would selling the rights to a single game to a local outlet. ESPN has the leverage if the demand is strong.

I think the biggest reason for Cedar Falls Utilities to add ESPN3 now instead of their planned date (mid 2013) was UNI had 2 football games on ESPN3 this year (both road games) and there will be UNI basketball games on ESPN3.....I'd like to think that the hundreds/thousands of emails they got had something to do with it though.
Oh...and for you fucks that don't have a ISP that carries ESPN3 it doesn't matter there are still ways to watch ESPN3.
Have someone with ESPN3 access remote link your account and you have it for 90 days OR do this
1) Go to att.net
2) Make sure you are logged out of any Yahoo! accounts you have
3) Click on the "mail" icon
4) Sign up for a free att.net e-mail account
5) At the espn3.com page, select AT&T as your Internet Service Provider and sign in on the att.net page with your new att.net e-mail account
6) ESPN3 should now allow you stream events

You guys don't get ISP's are irrelevant. There is more than one way to watch the game online if that's your choosing - I've already spelled it out for ya.

Well, I just checked out that frowrow site and it can suck my nuts. I wasn't there but 15 seconds and it popped up a window:
"Congratulations you are a winner! Click OK to accept your reward!"
Sorry, I don't want shit on my computer. I killed IE and won't be going back to that site. I'm not sure what malware they want to install but it won't be on my computer.

Really? Why? They give one option for viewing the game, online. Yeah, super awesome. No PPV no gameplan no nothing else. They refuse local TV stations from buying the rights for the games.
Yeah, pretty sure it is on ESPN. Thanks for playing Clenzie.

Yeah, those free sports/TV streaming sites are riddled with stuff that will give your machine AIDS. Even more so than pr0n sites, ironically enough.

You've spelled it out clearly, but 95% of the people who want to watch this game aren't reading the CS.com football board to get this info you've posted.. that's why people need to push the ISPs.. for the short, and long term benefit for everyone.

I browse like that every day - then you just allow scripts for the sites you WANT to run on - when you see how many scripts are blocked on certain sites... it's a real eye opener - especially how much stalking facebook and google do...

Complain to the ISPs, not ESPN. ESPN isn't going to change a damn thing about it, but Optimum sure as well can.
Thankfully I have access to ESPN3 as it is.
