A good get for the Dukes:
http://blogs.delawareonline.com/college ... town-hens/
Newark High quarterback Taylor Reynolds is going to James Madison next year.
Reynolds said he informed JMU coaches of his decision Sunday night, choosing the Dukes’ scholarship offer over those from several Colonial Athletic Association rivals, Delaware in particular, and other FCS schools. Nothing is official until he signs a Letter of Intent Feb. 1.
It was actually a call from the Old Dominion coaches, who told Reynolds they were pulling his scholarship offer because another QB had committed, that Reynolds said gave him a sense of urgency to make a decision. He’d been leaning toward JMU all along, he said...

Interesting. I thought Old Dominion might try to play "keep away" with him at the very least. Surprised they pulled the offer.

So who did ODU sign for them to pull the scholarship?? Nice signing for JMU.

I'd be surprised if Reynolds ends up as a good QB. He'll most likely be tossing far more interceptions and incompletions than TDs.
Edited for god reason.

So what does your list of God QBs look like? Do they have to be Catholic?
If religion is not a criteria, my list of God QBs goes something like:
Edwards, Flacco, Hamm, Gannon, Warner, Romo

Doesn't look like a UD style QB anyway, since he doesn't appear to be a pro-style pocket passer..
- Spoiler: show
- and he's not a I-A transfer

Whoops!

I'll correct that.
Reynolds has good legs...but the consistency of his accuracy reminds me of Rob S.

Eh...we're looking for a scrambler these days. Had one this year, but sent him home.
Maybe he'll come back...maybe not.

It was funny/sad/embarassing to hear some of the opinions on Reynolds on gohens, and this was weeks/moths ago before his choice.
Some of the WT people in Delaware didn't like him b/c he was a black kid from Newark as opposed to a white kid playing for one of the Catholic school powers in the state. Sad.

High school football in Delaware, and those who rabidly follow it, are a very small enclave of people. News may not have filtered in yet to them about those recent developments.

I don't blame Reynolds for getting out of Delaware.. based on KC's record of lack of developement when it comes to high school QB recruits Reynolds was probably wise to avoid UD.

May as well say "New Castle County" instead of "Delaware". Catholic schools (and private schools in general) are not players downstate. I'm not even sure if there's a single private school playing football downstate. Holy Cross (Dover) and St Thomas More (Magnolia) don't have football teams.

People live outside of New Castle County? When did this happen? Is there a hole in the canal letting people through?

To be blunt, the reason that private schools aren't a factor downstate is because we don't have the general thuggery that has been a problem with the upstate schools since bussing began up there (in the 70s?). The public schools downstate do well enough academically and do not (generally speaking of course) have discipline issues.
And I feel qualified to make this statement, as I was an education major at UD and student taught in several NCC schools. The difference in upstate/downstate was shocking to me.

Seeing how many of the JMU folks are already talking about Reynolds playing in the defensive backfield at JMU and not even playing QB, I think the more likely answer is the one Reynolds himself gave - he wanted to go away somewhere for college, not stay at home. But let's not believe him, I'm sure your reason is the right one. Kid's a liar.

Hey, my family left the state in the early '80's almost entirely due to the schooling in New Castle County. I understand.

I would think Steve Young is a God Qb hall of famer.
Tim Tebow is a huge God Qb.

Grew up in the Capital School District. Knew people who went to both the private and public schools downstate, and they all say that the public schools were better hands down. Its a whole different world below the canal.

Right.. the fact that in ten years KC has not been able to develop a single high school QB recruit had absolutely no impact on his decision.

I don't remember any really bad comments about him on GoHens...must not have read the right threads or maybe they were posted before the thread was erased...twice. Did you mean the News Journal..the comment section of that rag is white trash central.
Anyway, I wish all the Delaware kids luck no matter where they go because they are Delawareans. Any good news about our guys gives others a chance and you just know Delaware is a hotbed of talent compared to the Lehigh Valley.
But if Reynolds succeeds as a QB on this level, it will be a surprise to me. However, he'd have a better chance at JMU because he won't be asked to chuck the rock many times...so it was probably the right choice for him to have any chance at all.
