ODU slices and dices through NSU's defense and puts up major points.
JMU grinds EKU to death with the most boring offense known to man.

...I hope you're right. It would absolutely SUCK if ODU let a MEAC team win their first playoff game since 1999. Wouldn't hear the end of it from NSU fans, wouldn't hear the end of it from posters on here, heck ODU fans might even hear a little bit from VCU and Mason fans.

Old Dominion 30, Norfolk State 20 ODU gets it done at home, but is closer than many think because the game will be closer to neutral site than home.
James Madison 20, Eastern Kentucky 14 Lower scoring than many think and proves that JMU should be in the field.

It should be an interesting weekend of games anyway you look at it.

Likewise for JMU and the OVC...

But, I don't think VCU and Mason fans care one way or the other...just like you didn't 5 or 6 years ago.

ODU 34 Norfolk St 24 - Typical ODU game, they score pretty well & they let up points as well. The MEAC has been non-competitive in the playoffs for years and I don't see them winning one this Saturday either.

Dirty Dukes 28 Kentucky Colonels 16 - Let's face it, EKU doesn't belong in the field of 20. Mickey's Monkeys aren't exactly setting the world on fire either but this is a case of CAA > OVC by a decent margin. Looking forward to seeing one last cheap shot in the career of D.J. Bryant.

I just realized it myself. Thanks for the catch. I still think it is going to be closer because of a larger Norfolk State contingent.

If not for another 'mountaineer miracle' game, SC St dang near beat Appalachian 3 years ago.

It was an ugly 'who will screw the pooch the most' turnover-fest. The game was tied with less than 10 minutes to go, and after an ASU turnover, SC St fumbled the ball in the 'red zone.'

The ball bounced all over the place and ended up near midfield where Dominique McDuffie (I think) picked it up and ran for a touchdown.

Final was 21-14.

Not only that, but ODU played a MEAC team this year (Hampton) and won by 3. NSU beat Hampton by 10. I realize that the transitive property doesn't apply in sports, but I think ODU wins a competitive game. I'll say by 10, but not a blow out.

I suspect ODU will be fine ...

but the Playoff Football Gods can get ugly from time-to-time.

:D

ODU played them early, when DeMarco was still QB and did have trouble with the Hampton QB. He'd scramble around and then hit a WR in stride. I'm not sure the NSU QB can keep plays alive the same way.

The NSU QB led the MEAC in total offense -- Chris Walley stats.

Here is some post-season stuff
Norfolk State quarterback Chris Walley and North Carolina A&T State running back Mike Mayhew were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference's (MEAC) Co-Offensive Players of the Year
Looks as if they have a Sr/Jr dominated roster ...
