I though Stony Brook would win yesterday.
Is there anybody here who thinks EKU would beat Liberty? I think Liberty beats them.

theres probably 20 teams who didnt get in who would be EKU reguarly. But the argument isnt between whether EKU or Liberty should have gotten in, its between EKU and Illinois State

I think most people in the Big South Conference would agree that Stony Brook is the better team if they are looking at the matchup ojectively.
You have the Liberty apologists that you can immediately throw out of the discussion because there is no way they can see this objectively. Then, there are those that think Liberty should be there by default based on the fact that they spend the most and have the nicest football facilities in the conference. You can throw those people out too.
Both teams came to Charleston this year and I saw both teams in person. From what I saw, Stony Brook is the better team.

This. Stony Brook is an exceptional team and they fought hard. Good for them.

Liberty played very well, but then made too many mistakes. Stony Brook Played clean and got the W. I t=wish the refs had not have taken away Liberty's chances though. We were still in it only down by 7 with tons of time. If there was replay that drive continues and we have a real chance. SBU may have still won as they seemed to have all the answers, but I would have liked to see the real ending.

Did the officials cause Brown's two fumbles (10 SBU points there)? Or disrupt Bevins on his missed FG? I thought the flag on SB for "sideline interference" on Fogg's long KO return was iffy.
Yet, even with all of SBU's long plays from scrimmage; Summers played an NFL caliber game. He just now may be a late round draft choice w/yesterday's effort. LU will miss Summers as much as any other Senior on the 2011 LU squad.

Look I get it, but despite all that, we were still in it LATE and they took the chance away. Chris was a man child out there yesterday. He wanted it so badly and gave it all he had. it was amazing to watch. He will go 4-6 round in my mind.

That game could have gone either way last night. We have had games just like Liberty did last night where penalities or miscues kill a drive or keep the other team in the game. Last night the ball tipped our way. It was a tough one for both teams as we both seemed to score at will in the first half. I actually thought one of us was headed for a50 point night with a 24-21 half time score. Hats off to the Flames for a good game and we will do it again next season in their house.

Do any LU fans ever realize just how idiotic they sound with the stuff they throw out?
All hype....no results.

no were not all that blind and have been saying your last statement for a while on our board.
I do think above was a misquote. I think the amount of money Liberty spends on football should give us more championships, but not because we spend money therefore we deserve to win, but more so because we spend so much we should be winning, and we are extremely mediocre. Count me as one "praying" for some serious changes as soon as possible.

So spending money equates to championships. GOT IT. I wonder how many Montana should have because they spent some money?
How much money should a school have to spend to just buy a championship? Help me out here as I went to Montana so I am probably not as smart as a Liberty grad.

No, Im not saying because we spend money we deserve to be winning. Its more like you give someone $50 for dinner and they bring you back a cheeseburger from mcdonalds. The results we are getting with the investment many are making into the program is not adequate.

Further, what Im saying, our Coach is one of the highest paid in all of FCS, and the dude does not know how to get a team ready for big games. Every year we've had a game that left us all wondering WTF, and we've had a lot of "Moral Victories" which were fine and dandy when we were still transitioning from a 1-10 season. But for a coach to come out and say this is his best team yet and then something like this year happen when we only have 6 FCS wins tells me its time to move on.

Rueful is right. It's not like Liberty is in some powerhouse conference...in fact they're in one of the FCS's worst. For the amount of money they're putting into the program, they should expect MUCH more of a return.

Money never = championships. I was at the game and I'm still sick to my stomach. Look we made too many mistakes. Rocco can prepare for months for an opponet and if mistakes lead to a loss, then his preparation is not to blame. I still say even after 2 bad turnovers that led to points, we had a shot only down 7. If that call is made right, we have a shot. The way they were playing on D at that point it may not have mattered, but I'd like to have seen us get a chance.

I don’t think you’ll hear much crowing from LU fans any time soon. The repeated letdowns have taught us a lot. We are an above average team in a below average conference. We are borderline top 25, and only that because we beat up on teams from the bottom 50 of the FCS. We are not a top 20 team. Do not belong there. Do not belong in the playoffs.
We have not gotten a good ROI the past 3-4 years and changes need to be made. The hype machine surrounding this program needs to be killed.

I think Liberty fans expectations were too high coming into the season. You guys returned a couple star players, but there were also some big losses to graduation you guys seemed to ignore. I thought going into the season that it would be a rebuilding year for LU. 2012 you guys return a lot of good talent and I think you'll have a better year despite a couple key losses.
The conference as a whole is only getting better. In my opinion, Stony Brook has improved every season, and considering how young this years team is, I expect the trend to continue. Coastal already is a solid program and had the best win in the Big South this season with their win over Furman (I love that they have two wins against SOCON teams this year). Coach Nichols is doing a terrific job at PC, and they're only getting better. I think coach Dickerson was a great hire by GW and his team will be better with another year to implement his system. Charleston Southern can't play worse.
Call me crazy, but the Big South is a two bid league next year.
