Very wierd pairings this year....teams gettin' shipped all over the country.

Did they just punt on regionalization, or what?

They did an "average" and by putting ODU and Norfolk State against each other it all evens out. :coffee:

Not for ODU they didn't. I guess if Norfolk State and ODU are in the playoffs, we have to play each other even though one clearly deserves a bye and the other doesn't. F that. Reward hard work...not 'cause we're minutes away.

Pure BS that ODU & Norfolk State (two 9-2 teams) have to play each other, while 7-4 JMU gets 7-4 EKU, with one of them guaranteed to make it into the field of 16.

ODU should have been given EKU, and Norfolk State should have gotten JMU in the other play-in game.

Plus the winner of our game goes to Georgia Southern, and the winner of the other one goes to NDSU. Either Eastern Kentucky or James Madison will easily be in the quarterfinals.

That Montana State coach has a lot to learn if he thinks UNH has a good defense. lol

I am 100% confident that I could do a better job of selecting the field an setting up the pairings. Unfortunately it's not about doing a good job, it's about money.

They totally forgot about the rule that UNI and UNH have to play each other.
what's up with that?

BTW, I'm proud to say that about 500 people showed up to ODU's selection show party. Not sure if they showed our reaction, but it was a blast!

I agree. No WAY a 9-2 CAA team should be in the play-in round.

Let's just beat NSU first and see what we can do against GSU. Looking at the statistics, GSU gives up a lot of yards in the air and we all know how pass happy ODU is. And GSU barely ever throws while ODU's defensive strength is against the run. On paper, we match up pretty well...but let's beat NSU first. I know that team wants to beat us.

I think the committee failed geography.

And I suspect it would be easier for TTU to get to Harrisburg than EKU - LOL

One caution: Being good "against the run" and being good against a true option team are two totally different things. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

I did, I mentioned it on the EKU thread.

Yeah I know...we've played against the triple-option three times now and struggled every time. I'm just trying to find some sunshine in our situation. Who knows? Maybe we can pull off the upset of all upsets...

...NSU first though.

Yup. The committee basically said that 9-2 ODU isn't one of the top 12 teams in FCS. :ohno:

Oh, they are from Kentucky. No wonder I didn't know who they were. :thumb:

Exactly.

Beat NSU and hope that the week off makes GSU a little rusty and go from there. 9-2 in the CAA means that you should be able to beat anyone. The problem is that ODU vs GSU should happen in the round of 8, not the round of 16.

No disrespect intended, but 'reality check' - The Convicts will beat the snot out of the Butterflies at Paulson.

Maybe, but you know what? It's our first time--I'm not going to be too upset over getting a home game that we have a good chance to win, then get a top team on the road. It's going to be fun.

Is this a "it's your first time, so no bye for you"?

that's really the only explanation I can find for this...

"Regionalization" was never about helping schools with travel costs. It was always to maximize the money the NCAA gets from the playoffs.

And I agree with the consensus here. If ODU beats NSU, I think I know what the game of the week is for the round of 16.

Obviously our coach and our fans don't know anything about UNH yet. I think he just based it on what he has seen from other CAA teams.
