The NCAA takes 75% of the gate.
Essentially the bids guarantee the NCAA a minimum.
Home games go to the highest bidder, except in the case of seeded teams. Seeded teams only have to make the minimum bid to get a home game.

also, I believe that the deadline for submitting bids is something like a month before the season ends. but I don't know the exact details, so I could be wrong

Deadline was last Friday.
