Youngstown State @ #1 North Dakota State

North Dakota State opens up as 12pt favorites against Youngstown State today. I definitely would take the Penguins with that spread. Their worst MVFC loss under Coach Wolford was by 10 points on the road to South Dakota State last year.
Last week it took a 4th and goal leap at the goal line with less than 2:00 left for UNI to beat the Penguins 21-17. It was a game the Penguins had 3 separate drives that stalled with the lead when they could have done something with the ball and perhaps finished the game out offensively.
That is what YSU will need to do this week and next year, finish games out offensively, not on the defensive side, although it is improving.
I expect a dandy up in Fargo. I don't think the noise will cause any false starts for YSU; I don't think there was a single one last week in the UNI Dome. YSU run's a spread offense based on sideline signals, so that minimize's those opportunities.
I think 31-28 NDSU, but would not be surprised to see YSU win this game. We are 2-1 against NDSU over the past 3 years, the only loss coming with :34 seconds left year 34-29.
All the playoff bubble teams should cheer for NDSU because if we win, I think our resume with wins over ILSU and on the road at #1 NDSU would trump many other resumes.

Well said. I will be at the game today and I'll try to keep track of how many false starts we cause. I'm not claiming to be an expert in your offense, but sideline signals are primarily used to call plays and audibles (if it's no-huddle). Ultimately, the QB still has to bark out that cadence. I'm just taking a guess there.
12 points is much too high and many of the local writers and fans are nervous about the game. We expect a wild game. You guys clearly expect one. NDSU is banged up at WR- not deep there at all. We'll be pretty healthy elsewhere, though. If we can get a pass rush/line penetration, it will be a long day for the Penguins. I'll try not to swear at your players too much, ha.

Ouch, I realize lakesbison is irritating, but is there
that much venom for NDSU on here? I figured it would have been aimed at those arrogant Montanans....but that's just me

Believe me, if ANYONE can make Griz fans look humble, it's NDSU.

the FargoBuilding will likely be louder overall than the UNI-Dome.
The architecture of the UNI-Dome gives it a greater noise potential, but it seems like the crowds in Cedar Falls are pathetically quiet far too much. At least that seemed to be the case last week against YSU.
As much as I dislike NDSU, I have to admit that they tend to have a loud fanbase. At least when their team is doing well.

YSU dominated the 1st quarter offensive stats, but the Hess INT on 3rd and 4 at the NDSU 16 killed us.
YSU on the move again down 14-3.

The video quality in Youngstown is AWFUL! You know when you were young and tried to watch PPV and it was static... Yeah just like that, but worse.

Great game so far. NDSU having problems stopping YSU. YSU having problems stopping NDSU setting up for a shootout. Turnovers will be the key for the win today.

NDSU TD.. YSU had an INT in the endzone, but we roughed the QB. McNorton on 3rd and goal at the 2 barely gets in. Replay made it look a bit iffy on whether it was the right call.
21-10 with 2:00 left before half.

Didn't get a good look on the replay on that late hit. Would have been a huge play of the game. The 3rd and goal run was close but looks like his knee was down right when the ball crossed. Again big drive for Youngstown here before the half.

YSU option run by Jordan Thompson to the on 1 yard line with :21 seconds left. Next play Hess on the option keeper with :17 seconds left!
NDSU: 21
YSU: 17
:17 seconds in the half!
Wow what a drive... All but one play was a run by the Penguins on that quick drive!
