Western Oregon @ Montana

...I'm bored, sue me

They're pretty good, they knocked off the ranked HSU team that beat Davis and are leading the GNAC. Assuming we don't sleepwalk through this game, I'm predicting 49-14

Took a quick hop over to their D2 board, but the place was a ghost town

He's also the son of former Hawai'i coach Fred von Appen, who was replaced by June Jones in 1999 after going 5-31.

Fred von Appen was Montana's Assistant Head Coach in Hauck's first year in 2003. He retired just before the start of camp the following year.

Except for the fact that Von Appen isn't the starting QB. For the season, he's 8 for 18 for 93 yards with 2 INTs and 0 TDs.

Even if he were the starter, that still wouldn't be enough to really make it interesting. This one's all about tailgaiting.

Man I wish we would stop scheduling these kinds of games and go with just any FCS school.

The NDSU scheduling model?

St Francis
Laugh-yet
Morgan State
Wagner
Central Connecticut STate
Austin Pee
Mississippi Valley State
Northeastern
SFA
SHSU (when they sucked)
Northwestern State
Nicholls State
Northern Colorado

Just a small sampling of the OOC juggernauts they've faced in the past 6 years. ALL counters though.

Brilliant.

We should be calling up San Diego and Drake like every day trying to get those games lined up

That would be nice, if there were any FCS non-conference patsies in the neighborhood that wouldn't force UM into home-&-homes.

It's even worse because this game counts less than any other on the schedule, but still features an opponent that is likely better than the bottom 2 Big Sky teams.

We played these guys in 2009. They're actually a pretty decent DII. I think we beat them by 3 or 4 td's, but they kept things interesting for a while if I remember correctly.

Central Washington gave us all we wanted in '08. CWU and WO have split their two games this year.

Good luck with Drake.....

Maybe the will treat UM better than UNI, but there is a reason UNI never plays Drake...even though they are 2 hours apart, in the same all-sports conference, etc.... Get this...since UNI joined the MVFC in 1985, UNI and Drake have played THREE times....05, 06, 07. The only reason those games happened is because UNI needed games and Drake said "The only way we play you is you play here twice and we only play at UNI once...and it is the first game of the series so you can't back out". The average scores of those games was 48-10.

There is also a reason UNI has had to schedule games with Stephan F. Austin, Nicholls State, McNeese, Southern Utah, St. Francis, Northern Arizona, North Dakota, South Dakota (prior to joining the conference), South Dakota State (prior to joining the conference), 3 D2's from Minnesota and 2 from Michigan and 1 from PA and South Dakota, an NAIA, Cal Poly, PVAMU, Central Washington, Idaho State, Jacksonville State, Texas State, Idaho, EWU, Montana State, Montana, and a couple other random D2 teams since 1985......

Yes, some (maybe most) of those FCS games would have been played but even doing an alternating home and home with Drake would take pretty much all of the D2's off, and get ride of the games we had to pay FCS schools to come to CF without being part of a home and home...or some of the home and home with trips to Utah and Arizona....

Basically, what I'm saying is good luck with Drake....

Why are you posting on this thread? NDSU isn't mentioned. Go back to your own threads.

Should FBS teams play FCS teams?

silenoz. NDSU was already moving up, that game just proved that we should of done it 10 years earlier.

FBS v FCS shouldnt play.... because THEN the top 10 FCS teams would go FBS like we should be!
