The best play of the day?

ODU vs JMU: Hail and Mary touchdown
It was 4th and 1 and started from the 24th. The QB dropped the ball and was chased all the way to the 40's. Then he threw the ball and the receiver caught it between two JMU defenders. The best play of the day?

the pic of the catch can be seen here --> http://hamptonroads.com/2011/10/old-dom ... dison-2320" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

any other plays from fcs teams to beat this?

Montana's Jabin Sambrano had a 1 handed TD catch with the defender fronting him. It was pretty cool and I will post a link when it gets posted

ODU blocking JMU's potential game-tying FG as time expired was the best play, not that hail mary. :nod:

Griz coach suspending their two perps for only a quarter. Oh wait, you said best of the day, that would have been most pathetic.

honestly, we'll never know if he would have made that FG anyway. The JMU kicker missed one from 51 earlier in the game, I believe this one was from 47? If that FG was to win it then I think it would have been but the hail mary is definitely the play of the day since it actually lead to points which came at a premium today...something rare this season for the ODU offense.

In other words...

1a. Heinicke to Pinkard hail mary TD pass
1b. ODU blocks FG as time expired to secure win

Best catch I have seen this year hands down (even including all the ESPN Top 10 plays I've watched). One handed, reaching around the defender that is mirroring him and blocking his line of sight, all the while tip-toeing along the corner of the endzone. Amazing!

I forgot to mention that there was also defensive PI on that catch that, of course, was declined.

Both the field goals JMU kicker missed was in same direction the wind was flowing. He had advantage and I don't know why he missed the first one just by few feet :coffee: The last one was obviously blocked though.

here is the vid of the last kick, :D : " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That was a great play, but we needed ours to win on a 4th and 2...you guys were beating Weber St like a rented mule.

Nope. 1st and 10 @ the 11. WR goes out for a short route left and everyone else goes right. No opposing player within 15 feet of him and TD written all over it. Our QB (and I use that term very loosely) rolls left and misses the WR by 10 ft to his right.
or
Fumbling on the 2 on second and goal? OR missing a handoff to your #1 RB (that has played all 9 games with you) on 1st and 10 @ the 16? (we, naturally lost both the fumbles :ohno: )

Want more? I have several from this game. :oops:

In a game of big plays for both teams, the best play in the Portland State/Eastern Washington game (for me) was Connor Kavanaugh taking a knee on the last play. That showed we came ready to play and beat the defending national champs on their own red turf.

:D :nod: :D :lol: :thumb:

Oh, and a couple more. The squib, onsides kick that Zach Brown did that we recovered right before halftime. He got the same type of bounce as he did against Montana State. Also, the fourth down, 2 yard touchdown run by true freshman Shaquille Richard. Everyone keyed on Kavanaugh and McCaffrey's replacement came through.

Chris Summers Man catch over Justin Bethel (and another DB) to win a crazy 2OT game over Presbyterian. Good throw from Mike Brown - Amazing catch from Summers. You can see it at the 4:18 mark here: http://www.libertyflames.com/index.cfm? ... ewsID=7948

The highlights don't show it, but he didn't catch it with his hand, the ball somehow wedged between his arm and leg. It's super bizarre to see. There is a replay that shows it from like 10 feet away, though I'm not sure if it's on youtube.

We sat in front of a Missoula PO on Saturday. The guy was brutally honest and said in less than 2 weeks this will be gone. Said the cops were beyond out of line on this one.
