Just give the ODU fans a few years and they'll forget all the other sports too. They are still conditioned to not having football that they still think the other sports matter. That's what happens when your homecoming game is a soccer game.

Yeah, I mean, UD won back to back conference championships in men's basketball when I attended and while it was sort of novel to be in the NCAA tourney, it was nothing like football playoffs. I remember our battles with Marshall far more than I even remember who we played in the basketball tourney. I know it was Louisville one year and I forget the other.

Cincinnati.

They could have beaten Louisville, fell way behind, started pressing real late and came back, but ran out of time. I remember thinking that the Hens should press, and they did, about 4 minutes of game time later. Those were the Spencer Dunkley teams.

ODU has THREE hoops national championships and 23 CAA hoops titles, including every year since 1991-1992 (double titles in '92, '95, '97, '05, '10, and '11).

Hell, at halftime of the ODU game, they paraded out two UD national championship teams for 2011. One was Trap and Skeet. I forget what the other one was. Again, I don't really give a flying fuck about sports other than football. In fact, on my UDAF donation, I write in "Football Only" so that my money doesn't go toward sports that no one cares about, like basketball or field hockey. I doubt they really earmark it as such, but it makes me feel better.

I reckon more people care about DI men's bball than FCS football. But, I can see why UD fans would feel otherwise.

Okay 93, ODU doesn't have Men's lax or volleyball so I can't argue with you there but I do believe the ODU Field Hockey team is the defending CAA Champions and heavy favorites to win it again this year. I also believe that ODU has well over 50 CAA Championships...how many does UDel have?

No doubt ODU has a lot more championships in their 20 year CAA history. Although 31 of the 50 are in WBB and FH. Since UD joined the CAA it's 18-5 in favor of ODU, but again 10 of the 18 are the same sports you had dominated forever. It will take some time, but ODU women's BB is no longer the class of the CAA, so I'd imagine the numbers will change over time.

Nobody cares about?! Last time I checked, ODU is pretty damn good at basketball and for being a 3rd year program pretty decent at Football as well.

If your ODU education is worth anything - and from what I've heard about the academic lack of a reputation- it's probably not that much. You'd notice this is a football board. If you ever get to the point where you're showing us football hardware that'll be great. In the meantime you're a school that boasted for a long time about hoops but have now been thrown violently to the back of the bus & shit on by two of your biggest rivals - VCU & Mason.

With men's hoops no longer a talking point you fall back on field hockey, men's soccer & sailing.

Football is king. Mens hoops in on the radar and the rest are irrelevant.
