Minimal details at this point... not sure what happened - but if anyone gets more info...
There was a wild, serious fight on the field afterward. This is serious. Emergency responders helping players. This is bad.
#UAPB and #Southern fans were throwing soda bottles.
LaMarkius Pettaway needed an oxygen tank. He, Jared Detrickand O'Neill Gilbert apparently were pepper-sprayed.
According to TSPN fan reports, at the end of the game fights broke out all over the field...
Some quoted comments...
UAPB is going to ruin their chances at being on top because of penalties from the fight - some players will be suspended or banned for the rest of the season.
FANS throwing stuff on the field.... TEAMS STILL FIGHTING.....
Coaches were thrown down... it was wild stuff from what they were saying on UAPB radio.
Damn a Southern player is down..... he got beat up and has an oxygen mask.... paramedics attending to him.
Southern fan running from police in the white shirt....... police chasing him!
Here's the latest (as of this writing) post from TSPN:
1) the Southern players DID NOT get beat up, they police came in spraying mace and a few of them got it in the face.
2) At the end, from what I saw no one was seriously injured.
3) the police were chasing some pine bluff supporter. There were a few pine bluff people on Southern's side and they were heckling the players thoughout the game, then they resorted to throwing stuff at the players. There were little to no security on that side (I don't call a skinney girl telling folks were there seat is security)
4) most of the fight occured on Southern's side of the field close to Southerns bench. At the end, mostly the coaches broke it up, plus 2 or 3 police spraying mace. It was not a pretty site.
This was a total embarrassment to me as a Southern Alum. Hopefully action will be taken against that dumbass swinging his helmet.

Yeah right, I remember when we were down in Tampa and you started throwing bottles at dolphins and we all got pepper sprayed. Typical Southern....

I've calmed down since then. Plus the Cap'n was there, so getting peppersprayed is almost mandatory

This kind of crap going on at the Southern-UAPB game merely scratches the surface of what goes on at every NFL game I've ever been to. College football is far from perfect but it's better than the pros. I could only handle so many arseholes throwing beers and blows while watching the Arizona Cardinals game after game before I just quit going.

That picture really confuses me. Look at what the 4 men are wearing. It looks like the 2 facing the camera are fighting the 2 facing away. Yet the 2 facing towards the camera have ALTERNATING red (49ers) and black (Raiders). Likewise, the 2 facing away are wearing a 49ers varsity jacket and black jersey (Raiders)

Saw a snippet in the newspaper about another fight after a football game, this one after a highschool game in Sparta, Ga.
Evidently the road team won, but when they went to go into the lockerroom, the door was locked and they were "ambushed" by the other (losing) team, who started a melee (including smashing one of the coaches in the face with a helmet)

SWAC suspends 41 players (25 UAPB 16 Southern) for one game. I believe 8 of those have two game suspensions. Both schools will be fined an undisclosed amount.

UAPB has 85 players on their roster, so with the 25 suspensions, that leaves 60 players. Wonder if they'll have to burn some redshirts and play some true freshmen in their next game.

Yes I have a internet hookup with the SWAC and saw this some players have been suspended for double the amount of games.

SWAC staggers suspensions for both teams:
The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced Tuesday it will honor Southern University’s and the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff’s request to stagger each of the school’s football suspensions following a post-game altercation between the Jaguars and Golden Lions when the teams met on Oct. 17.
