Ok, who did it?

This submitted photo shows what appears to be a dead coyote hanging from a University of South Dakota billboard, placed outside of Brookings Tuesday. The South Dakota State University student newspaper, The Collegian, reports the coyote was taken down by 6 p.m.

Very clever. Props to whoever pulled that off.

This is a Midwest tradition, as I remember a cheerleader getting decked with a frozen coyote at one of the games. I've seen dead gophers & badgers thrown on the ice at UND depending on who they play. Dead Jackrabbits on the basketball court at NDSU etc.

Well the good thing is NDSU and UND have never done it with their mascots, that could be difficult in one case and pretty illegal in the other.

i have never been east of fort collins and west of nashville so you are correct. but still hanging the coyote seems pretty trailer parky.

I think both schools and fan bases are probably a bit embarrassed by the latest actions but Weberwildcat until you have a rival that you : play for 100+ years in ALL sports, located within 2 hours of each other, are the 2 largest and prestigious schools in their respective state, have the highest level athletic teams for their respective state, battle each other over funding, have families that are split between both schools, and take a 6-7 year hiatus between playing, then it will be hard for you to understand. For better or worse our programs don't have to compete against a BYU, Utah, Utah State or Southern Utah for that matter. We are the big thing in our state and yes I realize that not having FBS football in our state is probably considered by many to be pathetic but our schools get all the coverage in the media. Not trying to be a douche just saying it is hard to understand if your school doesn't have the above.

BTW, visited Ogden last year. Great place.

i agree with all your points. fcs is fbs when there is not fbs. fcs/fbs is nfl when u have no nfl. personally i could care less about fbs since i went to an fcs school. i woudl follow my college even if they were a DII.

we have no rival unless idaho state still counts. but htey have only beaten us twice in almost 30 yrs. we will find out what a real rivalry is when suu joins the big sky.
