NDSU BISON* @ Southern Illinois University

This is the fifth installment on the upcoming NDSU BISON Football schedule as they continue their epic run to the FCS National Championship.

Currently The NDSU BISON are undefeated, as predicted in this column. They are the best team in the County in the FCS division. They deserve the #1 ranking, but in a division where its won on the field moral victories carry more weight then wins sometimes.

Its also a division with a short memory. The NDSU BISON gave the Montana State Bobcats one of the worst shellackings in their 100 year or so history just a few games back in the playoffs at their place. They played the best game they knew how. Why wouldnt they? Highly acclaimed, home crowd, lots of hype because of the Montana spiral to oblivion, it was going to be a banner day for them.

yea its too bad SIU pooped the bed vs WIU else this game would be really huge.
that being said, NDSU needs to score first and punch them in the mouth and win this right away in the 1st.

NDSU needs to win by two scores if they are legit.

NDSU just needs to win, the polls and opinions don't mean anything with the playoffs at the end of the season.

SIU needs to win this game or their season might be garbage.

Crappy thing about this game is that if we win, we still won't have beat a team with a winning record, so the haters are still gonna hate.

I think we have a good shot at winning this one, but if we play like we did this past weekend, we will lose.

SIU has their backs against the wall. If they have any sort of fight left in them, they will be very tough to beat in this game at home.

Speaking of, where is that houndawg at? He sure has the tendency to disappear at times like this... :?

I don't care. If NDSU is highly ranked, cool, if SIU wins, I'll laugh.

My thought exactly. He played the "you hate SIU card" because I wasn't ranking them, or not high enough for his liking, now he is nowhere to be found?

This is the attitude players, coaches, and fans need to have. We win the games on our schedule, and the rest will fall into place.

With that said I think SIU is a good team and will play considerably better than they did last week. Question is, can NDSU do the same? If the Bison play like last week, they will lose. if they play like they did against the gophers, the Bison will be victorious. I expect a close game, 17-13 Bison.

The BISON will lose if they play like last week?

Red zone almost perfect.

2 INTs. I int returned for a TD.

Bend dont break, just like last year except a lot less bend.

Very physical and punishing play.

Accurate and crisp passing game. Strong running game against a very good defense.

They could win it playing like they did last week.

If they commit stupid penalties and let a team they are clearly better than hang around - they will lose.

Exactly, and you can't plan on your defense scoring a TD every game... The offense needs to move the ball down field more effiently than we did last week.

Everybody has a game they don't show up for every season, we just had two. I don't know what happened over the bye week but the team that came back isn't the one that went in. Having said that, and looking at the isu/ndsu stats, I think that all is not lost, even though it looks like the mvc leader in total offense is. I think that if ISU can stuff the bison run like they did, we can stuff it too. The bad news is that if Hudson can throw for 300 on us, Jensen can too. Jewel Hampton will be the best back ndsu has faced so far, he pounded WIU all night for 156 yds, why they went a way from him at the end is a mystery. Certainly this will be sack check week for the Dawgs.

As long as we don't turn the ball over twice and have 108 yds in penalties, like we did against the Redbirds it is highly likely we win. Major sloppy play against the Redbirds....we must have had at least 4 or 5 false starts, no excuse for that in the fourth game or ever!

The stats look like they held McNorton and Ojuri in check pretty well.

I was impressed with the Redbirds run D, but I think we left a lot of points on the field through the passing game. One of our fumbles was a big pass to Holloway in which he might have scored if he didn't fumble it without even being hit. I was also really impressed with thier RB number 5, that guy runs with authority......I believe he was a transfer from Mich. St.
