Cory McCaffrey ran for 218 yards and Connor Kavanaugh also ran for 212 yards and the Vikings got their first win at Idaho State since 1999, 42-35. The win pushes the Vikings record to 2-0 in conference, tied with Montana State atop the conference standings. The Bobcats come to Portland next week.

I assume you watched the game. Can you give us a rundown of ISU? Wondering how much they are improved. How 1 dimensional are they?

ISU has a very decent passing game, but only uses the run occasionally to keep defenses honest. They are definitely improved from the last couple of years. ISU is successful when they run the ball, but that's just about never. Kevin Yost is a smart and accurate QB, and Rodrick Rumble is the best WR in the Big Sky. WR Derek Graves and TE Josh Hill are also dangerous weapons. With their offense, they really could beat anybody. However.... defensively, ISU gave up an embarrassing amount of yardage on the ground today, for the second game in a row. Two different players each rushed for over 200 yards.
The game was close. ISU had a 1 point lead with about 2 minutes left, but botched a snap on a punt and the rest is history.

Bengals are very much a pass oriented attack. Yost threw the ball something around 50 times. It didn't seem like the run was very much part of the gameplan and when it was used, we seemed to stop it pretty well. Big plays came via the pass.
The Barn is slowing becoming quite the home field advantage for the Bengals. Very noisy place to play. If the fans keep that up, it will run havoc on opposing teams (PSU had something like 15 false start penalties).
Bengals will give anyone fits in their own building. Hard to say how their game plan will translate on the road. Whoever plays at Idaho State will need to work on dealing with a lot of noise.

21 penalties for 209 yards by the Vikings!
I don't think I've seen that before, much less in a win.

Yes, I don't think Idaho State can blame the loss on the officiating.
Many penalties on false starts and offsides for PSU. The noise was deafening.

It was an exciting type of ball game. Yost is going to be a good quarterback in the conference and that is a great place to start. Rumble looked very average in the first half, but he had a great second half. Storms hasn't missed a beat since last year. Moore seemed average to me as well, but he seemed average when I saw him play here last year and he had that monster year last year.

Holy God
How many yards did Rumble have?

I don't know what's more surprising, that the Vikings had two 200 yard rushers or that there was actually someone in the conference who hadn't won a game in Pocatello since 1999....

I still can't believe we only got out of there with a last-second, one point win in a season when we made the national championship game.

Strange things happen down there.

Everyone is too busy being scared shitless and watching their footing/landings to worry about the score

I think ISU is all about the vuvuzelas this year, hence the noise.

Well they have some new tarmac in that airplane hanger so I hope it is safer this year. Every year I have been there for a Griz game, someone gets a limb broken.
