Losing to a D-III team at homecoming? Really? Not D2, but D3.

Lindenwood actually moved up from NAIA to DII. They had success at the NAIA level, I'd place them at lower tier DII when they were in the NAIA.SeattleGriz wrote:Northern Colorado is pretty bad as well, but at least they are bringing in a new offensive scheme this year.
UNC lost to Lindenwood who appears to have just stepped up from Div III to Div II this year.
Sandbaggin' the DIII scene eh?DSUrocks07 wrote:Wesley should be a D2.

They have been successful for a very long time. They have the facilities, money, track record and location to move up. It's just my opinion. But having a D2 football program in Delaware would be a good thing.SeattleGriz wrote:Sandbaggin' the DIII scene eh?DSUrocks07 wrote:Wesley should be a D2.
With all the respect in the world to Del. State (which was VMI's worst showing to date), if the Keydets don't beat the Bucs by 28 in 14 days, they'll be a mob knocking on Sparky's door.CoastalFan2005 wrote:This is an absolutely embarrassing loss not just for CSU, but for the entire Big South (as if we needed any more embarrassment). Agreed. They got thumped at home by Morehead, which might be worse than losing to Wesley.danefan wrote:Valpo is worse.
If you saw them play you would quickly come to the same conclusion I did and that is they would more than likely beat over half the FCS teams in the country.CoastalFan2005 wrote:This is an absolutely embarrassing loss not just for CSU, but for the entire Big South (as if we needed any more embarrassment). Maybe against the non-scholly teams, but I'm not buying it Scholarship teams>non-scholarship teams. Your average FCS team would pound any division 3 team by 20 points. It's not the same as an FCS playing an FBS or D2, it's like an FBS team playing a D2 team; no excuse for any lossesthatoneguy wrote:No shame in losing to Wesley....they are consistently one of the best teams in Division III football with the likes of Mount Union, UW-Whitewater, and Mary Hardin Baylor. It just goes to show that even though they may be "D3" doesnt mean they cant compete with some of the teams here. I'd venture to say that the 4 D3 teams I named would give a few more FCS schools a run for their money. Not just lowly Charleston Southern.
Wesley is one of the best....but the best if you've seen the likes of Mount Union, and Wisconsin Whitewater, you will know that D3 can certainly compete with even some of the FCS schools with scholarships. Just because a team FCS scholarship does not mean they will pound a D3 team into the ground....its who youre playing...if youre playing 6-4 Lakeland, or a 5-5 Capital University then maybe. If you are an average FCS scholly school and you scheduled a team like Wesley, Mount, or Whitewater, be ready for a game.youngterrier wrote:Maybe against the non-scholly teams, but I'm not buying it Scholarship teams>non-scholarship teams. I'm sorry dude, but a D1 team should NEVER lose to a D3 team no matter how good they are.CSUBUCDAD wrote:If you saw them play you would quickly come to the same conclusion I did and that is they would more than likely beat over half the FCS teams in the country.CoastalFan2005 wrote:This is an absolutely embarrassing loss not just for CSU, but for the entire Big South (as if we needed any more embarrassment). Sounds like a scheduling fail by your admin. If a school is scheduling down, there is absolutely no reason to schedule a good and talented D2, D3, NAIA, etc program.CSUBUCDAD wrote:Wesley is the best non scholly team I have ever watched. How do they get these guys? We are very young but damn, this team was good. There is a reason they are ranked in the top ten in DIII and been a contender for the DIII title just about every year for the last forever. I guess this year will be a character building year. Too bad it had to be homecoming, hall of fame and groundbreaking for the new athletic complex. Congrats to Wesley on a game well played.
Give me an average FCS team with full scholarships and they will beat any D3 team in the nation by at least 20 points. count on itthatoneguy wrote:Wesley is one of the best....but the best if you've seen the likes of Mount Union, and Wisconsin Whitewater, you will know that D3 can certainly compete with even some of the FCS schools with scholarships.
