Create-A-Conference

Post by DKHardee »

If you could create your own FCS/FBS 16 team super conference right now, who would you choose?

RULES
1. Must include at least 8 FCS schools
2. Can not include a school from a BCS conference.
3. Does not have to be a regional based conference.

Realistically all these conference or at least most of them still are regional so I'm gonna go with a regional outlook...

Georgia State
Georgia Southern
Old Dominion
William & Mary
James Madison
Appy State
Charlotte
Delaware
Wofford
Liberty
Elon
Chattanooga

...and I'll stick with 12.

EWU/Cal Poly

Interesting....the tough part is picking 7 other FCS schools I'd want to be affiliated with. :| :| :|

I'd take all the A10 and America East football playing schools and combine them in one football league. I'd add Buffalo to get the 3 SUNY's together and Delaware, Coastal Carolina and Towson to round out the more southern teams.

1. Albany
2. Stony Brook
3. Maine
4. Stony Brook
5. Rhode Island
6. UMass
7. Fordham
8. Dayton
9. Duquesne
10. Temple
11. Charlotte
12. Richmond
13. Buffalo
14. Delaware
15. Coastal Carolina
16. Towson

Its an odd conglomerate but I think it covers a wide range of geography and different academic standings.

Very odd considering we weren't aware Stonybrook fielded two different teams.

It is admittedly the absolute worst case scenario for a couple schools on my list - including Delaware.

I started making a list, but realized it's an exercise in futility. If we're talking about a conference that would compete in FCS, I'd just keep the whole CAA and add Albany, Stony and maybe Liberty. That would help keep UNH and Maine happy and add one more Virginia team to keep the balance in the south. I've never understood the folks that like to make super conferences in I-AA since we have playoffs. Why would you want UD, JMU, AppSt, GSU, Furman... in the same conference? I'd rather see them matched up in the playoffs.
