Yeah, but they are all D-III/NAIA/JUCO/HS, so they don't count as a D-I win like Iona did...

No....I'm talking about the MEAC, NEC (most), Ivy, Patriot (90%) & some Pioneer teams, as well as the 6 remaining independents, that are all within driving distance.

Sorta...

We'd love to have a bunch of counters to play. You get to count Iona, Marist, etc as D-I wins. We can't count D-II teams that give 24-36 schollies...

No jealousy. Just find the double standard that most apply to Western schools humorous when you look at the non-entitys that most Eastern schools play. Then they brag about their SOS because they play a body bag game against NC State, or Auburn, or LSU, etc., etc., etc.

If Iona was in Missoula, you know UM would book them year in and year out...

You play the teams that get you the counters...wether it's a "body-bag" or a "cupcake"...

And someone else determines the SOS...it's not us "posters"...that's a fact...

Hogan has made a fine point there boys. I believe he is saying also that he understands the need for us to play a D2 and some of the other teams from the ONE other conference several times like SUU and such.

Well, thanks, UAH...I understand the "I'd never want to live back east" thing...I'm not nuts about certain aspects of this area either...

But since 50% of the FCS is east of eastern Ohio...why piss and moan when we take advantage of it...

And as I've said numerous times, its the NCAA who does the crappy job of matching up teams for the playoffs...so let's focus on them...

I never feel the need to apologize for the things we have to do to get a schedule done out here and would like to have the luxury of a lot of different suitors for noncon games but I also wouldn't feel the need to apologize for taking advantage of a situation if we had the opportunity. I think the only thing that kind of sticks in most of us Western folk is the hypocrisy of some of the East Coast fans when they say shit about having to play a D2 to fill the schedule and put a little money in the coffers, while they profess a superior schedule while having D1 counters that are not as good as SOME of the D2's that we face. I'm telling you Col. we took out some good teams this year and that CWU took us to the mat..at home. It's tough for any of us to know how good teams we never see. I know how good Albany is just because we were able to buy a game with them but I certainly don't think at this point that Iona, Stoney, or some of the others are better than teams like CWU and some of the others we have played. I'm not including Fort Lewis, but teams like Chadron St. are real quality as well.

Just one thing to keep in the back of the grey matter...Stony Brook is also moving in the right direction and will be a quality team if they continue...the others...I agree, cupcakes...but counters...

And the fact that they are counters is the rub, Colonel. Not that you play them. But the NCAA refuses to take QUALITY into account.

They use a minimum scholarship requirement for FBS wins (90% of 63 max). So FCS could do the same.

Not at all. And I have no problem with non-schollie programs - would like to see that area grow.

I would really like to see the NCAA allow us to count one D-II team a year, 30-schollie minimum...

Heck I'd love it if the Griz could get either of those two teams on the schedule just to open a door to some SoCon/Big Sky match ups but I know the administration won't do a home and home with anyone if they can make the dough with a home game. It would be nice if we could offer some of those teams a decent payday to come out and play just to see some other conferences/teams.

By CAA I'll assume you mean Maine.

... and who needs Iona when Morgan State is 2 miles down the road?

DJP, you know you love the tarffic where you live, don't even act.

Easy, we don't play everyone else in our conference. It's a conspiracy. The CAA killed Kennedy too.
