Good to hear. No reason why Albany should not be at 63. That's always an interesting question...because academically, Villanova is closer to Richmond and William and Mary than the other publics...they have a strong (albeit nasty) relationship with Delaware in football...dbackjon wrote:What will happen to Villanova? Non CAA team as well...

I think there will be lots of movement between 2010 and 2012 in the FCS, especially along the east coast...

I think there will be lots of movement between 2010 and 2012 in the FCS, especially along the east coast...
All of these questions are being brought up a lot, and with the addition of 2 southern schools to the CAA, the geographical aspects of the conference are all outta whack. The unknowns are the hardest parts to answer. These 2 new teams are really a pain in the ass. I don't think Villanova goes anywhere unless it is up to FBS (ain't gonna happen). They may go to the "CAA North", but that is the farthest they go, as a Yankee, A-10, CAA football ally for the last God knows how many years, it would be tough to give em the boot IMHO. Not to mention it was an easy agreement to the CAA last year with Lacrosse being a CAA member already. Delaware will be an out of conference game even if the North/South split happened, so I don't think that rivalry is an issue for the future. I don't think it would be completely outlandish (assuming NE doesnt drop football) to see Villanova move to the North for a 7 team conference, and keep the south (- Villanova) as another 7 team conference. This could also open the doors for an addition to the north (Albany, Stoneybrook), and an addition to the South. I am just throwing ideas out there, as I obviously don't know, but that seems most logical. A 14 team conference is nothing but absurd, so unless the new comers or JMU/Delaware (with their stadium projects) are planning on moving to FBS in the next couple years, I see a "CAA North" and "CAA South, with new names, and now 2 conferences.

Good thoughts on the future...I hadn't thought about two seperate, but similarly named conferences (CAA-North and CAA-South)...could use the same overhead management of the CAA, but remain seperate in scheduling, etc...
Agreed...each conference would have to be a stand-alone when it comes to auto-bids, etc...the Management overhead would simply provide just that...Ursus A.
