Bobcats drop ducks add SFA

I haven't seen it mentioned here...MSU and Oregon agreed to cancel their game next year (2012) and the 'cats are going to play Stephen F. Austin instead. We'll have 10 FCS games, and this gets us 6 home games. We are travelling to Drake next year to complete a home/home so were only going to have 5 home games until this happened.
I think it also helps that the stadium expansion lets us make more money on home games, so the talk is that we won't be playing as many FBS games in the future. Now if we could just quit playing a lower division game...

What day is the Drake game?
I'm opposed to ever going to any event at Drake ever again, but I could make an exception for that.

I wish you guys wouldn't have done that. Now our AD, along with the powers in Salem, will have us play the Ducks, and we're already playing Washington next year.

You know what though? They're both counters. And probably both wins. They would have gotten their asses waxed by Oregon, with no upside. Great move by the 'scats.

The OR game was scrapped on whose initiative? Was it mutual? Or was it OR seeing what Sac did to OSU and the Ducks fearing the Kitties would do the same to them?

mutual, the ducks need an OOC BSC opponent for computer rankings, Cats wanted an extra FCS game at home.

I don't know what the date of the Drake game is.
You should be safe, Jalmond. Oregon wanted out of the game to schedule a FBS game for strength of schedule.
Mutual, no payoff for us. It was announced on Thursday, when I was in Utah for the game. Sac hadn't beaten OSU yet.

Kelly mentioned on Monday about how difficult it is to bring a big name to Autzen and that several have expressed no interest. They are obviously trying. If they (or Oregon State) can't fill it, they usually turn to us. We're not out of the woods yet.
FWIW---I'd like to get more FCS teams on the schedule and stay away from two FBS/BCS teams.

This is great. I only wish MSU was making the return trip to Nac. Either way good news. Maybe a good opportunity to make a trip to Montana. Have to see how the schedule shakes out.

Isn't Montana where SFA comes to die?

Well, I meant the STATE of Montana. Either way, yes, thats were Southland teams go to die (including all two times I can think of SFA has been up there).

Well...best of luck against MSU, but I think the result will be similar to what happens when SFA visits Missoula.

Both times were fokking epic beat downs.

Well, maybe if the Ducks didn't use their own officials in OOC games and have a history of outright cheating (see Oklahoma) they might find getting an opponent to Autzen a little easier.
The worst thing that ever happened to Pac-12 out of conference scheduling was that game, because now teams don't think they can come West and get a fair shot.

And then there was the time MSU came to Nac.

Both should be good games. There is a push at the FCS to add playoff teams which would include autobid from Pioneer Conference (Drake)
When SFA comes to town it will be in the fall so they should be able to perform okay. Its when the snow flies that they get into trouble. Should help with our recruiting there too.

I thought the Bobcats already got many recruits from Texas? Perhaps it was someone else.

I envy the financial ability to not need a FBS/money/prostitution game. There's not much of an upside besides bragging rights (until you play them the next time). And the down side can get pretty bad. When Wofford played Wisconsin a couple years back we lost one of our best linebackers (perhaps even an all-american candidate) to an injury and many others as well. The chances of winning these games are extremely small and the chances of key players getting injured playing bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic teams are far more likely. We need more programs in FCS that are solidly FCS, planted in the FCS with a strong enough following to where money is not a problem. Sadly those programs think of moving up for their own sake instead of staying and strengthening their position in the FCS, which is not a bad decision

Would help a lot more if you played in Nac!
