So I went online to try and buy 30 tickets to the bi-annual Flagstaff beatdown admininstered at the hands of the Montana Grizzlies, and this is what I've found so far:

* The NAU ticket office charges an EXTRA $2 per ticket if you order the tickets on-line, but only $3 per ORDER if you order the tickets over the phone. Wouldn't the objective be to drive the volume to the WEBSITE??? Their phones were ringing off the hook and the representative sounded extremely flustered and irritated, yet their own pricing strategy has caused the problem.

* When I told the rep I wanted 30 tickets, she quickly transferred me to the Athletics Department, insisting that they'd give me a discount for buying that many tickets. The athletics department had no fucking clue what the rep was talking about, and in fact only was arranging tickets for the AWAY game in Tucson this weekend. She tried to transfer me BACK to the ticket office, but surprisingly I was "disconnected".

* So I went BACK online and tried AGAIN to buy 30 tickets, only to find out their own website limits you to TEN tickets at a time.



Christ, it's no fucking wonder that dome is half empty for every game.

Buy 31 tickets, giving the 31'st one to a random stranger.
Drive away pleased with yourself for saving money while the environment at the same time.

Fuck it. I'm rollin' up in my Hummer II, running over trees and plants and bushes along the way, parking on the grass when I get there and top shelfing the toilets in their restrooms...that place is a fucking DUMP and I only visit once every other year.

I always love the "convenience fees" I get to pay for doing all the work myself. My internet connection, my date/section selection, my paper to print it out. ESPECIALLY Ticketmaster, who I wish would fall victim to trustbusting.

I ran into the same issues when I tried to buy NDSU tickets the other day. When I called up they said "Ah geez, I don't know what to tell you there, we had some real humbdinger tickets available for when we play the New England Patriots and the Vikings, but you have to go through the golden arm committee to get them by golly."

Where, pray tell, was I badmouthing the student? Other than her apparent inability to transfer me back without cutting me off....in fact, she (and she sounded "Flagstaff" cute ) and I were having a good laugh at the pricing policy and the fact it actually made her job more difficult. I empathized with her, and set a date for the 22nd where her and I will meet in the back room at Granny's for a quickie.

There are better (less sketchy) options than a back room at Grannys. Heard a few interesting stories from a college friend who bounced at multiple bars in town about Grannys.

And the stupidity goes on....

NAU has now apparently changed their tailgating rules as well. I've been going up to Flagstaff every other year since 1993 and have NEVER had a problem lining up a tailgating spot in/around the "Montana" contingent of fans. Apparently THIS year they're not designating a certain area for Montana fans, and in fact won't even sell me a tailgating spot until ALL renewals from LAST year are in.

The douche on the phone even went so far as to say that I might have to buy a SEASON PASS for tailgating, and that they weren't selling "single game tailgating passes" this year.

I swear, it's no fucking wonder our state/university system is so far in the red.

1) They spend $23 million to remodel the stadium and in the process REDUCE seating capacity by 4,000, thus costing a potential $80,000 per game in potential revenue.
2) They don't know their ass from a hole in the ground regarding group ticket sales and if it wasn't for my perseverance they'd have lost my sale (and many others, I would assume)
3) Now they've cut themselves off at the knees from a tailgating revenue perspective. I've paid upwards of $160 for 4 parking spots in the tailgating area every year....and by reducing the capacity by 4000 they're reducing the potential crowd by 4000 anyway, which means fewer cars and fewer tailgaters ALREADY...now they impose a "season pass only" philosophy??? WTF??

NAU fans you should be outraged at your university. WAFJ.

they need to fix that. That is pretty ridiculous.
