"Cupcake" FBS games in 2011

Some FCS-FBS games make the list (if you're afraid to click on the link above):
Norfolk State - West Virginia
Missouri State - Arkansas, Missouri State - Oregon
Samford - Auburn
Youngstown State - Michigan State
Furman - Florida
Northwestern State - LSU
Coastal Carolina - Georgia
The Citadel - South Carolina
U. South Dakota - Wisconsin
Charleston Southern - Florida State
Georgia Southern - Alabama

I'm afraid this will be the reality for the years to come, more and more of this type of games will make the list. (Notice many of the games are against SEC teams, and the writer makes a point that SEC shouldn't feed on FCS teams.)

In short, make the PL, PFL and Ivy (in addition to the independents) schedule among themselves, unless something radical comes out of these conferences allowing themselves to be exposed to humiliation. :ohno:

I'm surprised the Portland State/TCU game isn't listed. The best simulated score I've seen is 54-3.

All those FCS games won't compare with San Jose State vs. Stanford. The Cardinal is returning a majority of their players (including Andrew Luck) coming off a 12-1 season where they convincingly won the Orange Bowl over VaTech. SJSU is one of the youngest FBS teams in the country coming off a 1-12 season where their only victory is barely beating Southern Utah.

Stanford should still win big, but I don't think they will be as good this year without coach Harbaugh.

USC might try to turn up the juice on us, since we have had bragging rights for 20 years now, and never miss an opportunity to remind the Coots fans about it.

What about us? Hey, we're still considered FCS.

LSU puts up 70 against NWSU, and GSO keeps it within 3-4 TD's against Bama haha...

LSU won't put up close to 70, especially with the issues they're going through. They haven't even scored 60 since 1997.

I agree. If they lose Jefferson it will be a different ballgame and witnesses say they saw him kick that guy when he was down. Miles has his hands full with this one. Lots of distractions for LSU

I think Bama will beat GSU, but the margin will be respectable. :twocents:

NDSU v Kansas was on a similar list.

Also NDSU v Wyoming a few years ago. :S

I'm not so sure about that. As bad as the Spartans are, they have a history of taking out Stanford. While a big Stanford win is likely, I still wouldn't put it past them to pull the outright upset.

Stanford has the Carolina Panthers' first overall pick! Oops.

Stanford should win this one by 35 or more.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. There's talk of the Whiners possibly tanking this season to get Luck.

:ohno:

Does the NFL actually need a NBA-style lottery?!?

Charleston Southern isn't just a bad team, they're a bad team in a bad conference. The best comparison for the Big South to an FBS conference would probably be the Sun Belt. There's no national power, and there's no reason to believe we'll see one out of this conference anytime soon.

I think Liberty might have something to say about that (especially if they can finally break through into the playoffs this year)

Even with Jefferson they weren't that explosive.

Western Carolina vs Georgia Tech could be ugly, especially with the Jackets running the triple option. :coffee:
