"BYU and Weber State today announced the schools will meet in football on Sept. 8, 2012 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The game marks just the third meeting between the two universities from the state of Utah."

Chalk up another FBS win for Weber.

Not only is a game scheduled with BYU, but both Utah State and Utah are on Weber's 2013 schedule.

WSU's AD Jerry Bovee said his goal is to get a game against at least one instate FBS team every year. And so far, USU, Utah and BYU are ok with that.

Legit respect for that. I'm not even sure I'd have that much audacity as AD. Hopefully, they do the FCS proud in those games.

Personally, I would rather hear about Weber setting games up with other FCS teams, I would really Like Weber to get out and schedule some other good FCS teams, like UNI (the last time we met as OOC was in 1980), ODU, NDSU and SDSU, while they are in the dakotas lets play USD. I would like a rematch with W&Mary, I dont care if App St ever comes to Ogden (It would be awesome thats for sure), but I would like Weber to play them just to see how Weber could measure up to an elite fcs program. (hey we are finally beginning to beat Montana ). What about some southland teams? the last southland team to play Weber was Mcneese back in 92.

I'd like Weber to start getting OOC games vs FCS teams not in the Great West.

getting in the playoffs is something that is not valued at weber. these are a lot of fbs games. looks like 2 fbs per year. wsu really needs body bag money, its just frustrating to see 2 of them on the schedule every year.

2008: utah, hawaii (0-2)
2009: colorado state, wyoming (0-2)
2010: texas tech, boston college (0-2)
2011: utah state, wyoming
2012: byu, another fbs likely
2013: utah, utah state
2014: arizona state, another fbs likely

We are playing BYU AND Fresno State next year and if our Athletic director gets his wish, we will be playing another Utah fbs team to go along with our Arizona State game in 2014

Playing an FBS game is one thing - especially out here in the west where there are fewer possibilities for FCS, but to schedule two...

Is WSU's athletic funding that bad that they have to get 2 paychecks each year? As has been discussed so many times, the odds of making the playoffs are so slim...

It drives me crazy, if we need the money fine but lets play only one a year, I hate always starting the season 0-2. If I could have it my way, Weber would have a full FCS schedule. at least we arent playing down.

If the alternative is one FBS game and one lower division game (forget getting all FCS games, or even 2 occ FCS games, it ain't going to happen), I'll take two FBS games any day. Especially if they are against in-state or regional FBS teams with relatively easy travel and/or FBS teams that Weber has a fighting chance of beating (WAC, MWC). I can't stand watching games vs lower division teams. I would rather travel to watch Weber play up, even if the chances of winning are slim.

I agree.Our games vs Wyo and Colo St in 09 were winable(actually we should have beaten Colo State), just like our games vs Wyo and USU are winable this year.

schedule optimization at weber state means getting paid, playoffs do not seem to be a priority from the administration perspective.

i agree with weberalum02, if it is going to be 1 fbs and a non DI then yes, 2 FBS. PLEASE no non DI ever again!!!!!!!!!! makes you look so stupid to play a non DI.

good point, griz would have had 8 wins possibly, weber might have had a shot at 8-9 wins with no fbs last yr. who knows, starting out 0-1 with a loss to boston college and the injuries we acquired. a win over an ooc fcs week one could have changed things.
